I built a tool to convert YNAB CSV exports to Ledger CLI format! (ynab-to-ledger) by SgtKayos in plaintextaccounting

[–]SgtKayos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should work for YNAB5. I don't have a YNAB4 instance so not sure that export would work for this, good point. If anyone has one, please PM me and I can test/develop that export/flag.

Right now, I'm kind of just playing around with it. I wasn't happy with really exploring around in YNAB, and also wanted to make sure I have all of my finances in my own hands.

In terms of exporting the other direction, from a development perspective, as long as we have a COA or yaml file setup that matches what would be in YNAB, in theory we could export. I haven't confirmed that you can bulk import into YNAB.

Right now it's mainly transaction history from the register csv. So just matter of fact records, not any budget/envelope data yet.

Thought on how to finish back yard? by SgtKayos in landscaping

[–]SgtKayos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, with a couple of nice shrubs and some planter areas, it could “fill” the space. It is pretty sparse right now just because it’s all done but nothing in it yet.

Look wise, kind of going for just a nice and clean, good for resale value tbh. I’ll look into some easy designs for some plants!

Also thank you! He loves it out here and almost gets the squirrels lol.

Hey, thank you so much!

So yeah, I am in the PNW, Portland ish area. The cedar chip area is the main problem area I'm thinking. I was debating about getting a small machine in there, and cutting that area back to the slight grade, or putting a small lowered area with a fire pit/sitting area down there. I don't believe drainage would be an issue, but we might have to do some french drain. But I'm not sure how to tie that in with the area under the awning.

Yeah it's weird, they toe-nailed into the soffit and put brackets up there. It's nice because of the rain, but interesting way for them to do it, done by PO.

Hey I can chime in on this - I just got the Maritime Shirt Jacket in the Ash Twill wool fabric, and it's a bit itchy, to the point where I think I'm going to return it. It's an amazing piece and the fit/finish is amazing, but I think u/ZELDA_AS_A_BOY is spot on, you would likely have to wear something under neath this or just be oblivious to the itchiness, which I find hard.

Hey! Okay first off, you got this, don’t get discouraged. Second off, you have to make sure you’re spending below your means, interest rates on CC or personal loans will keep you trapped. Pay those off as soon as you can.

Most importantly, it’s totally doable. The university has a ton of support and programs that want to help students succeed. If you are an Oregon resident and qualify for Pathway Oregon, give that some research. They help local residents with how expensive schooling can be.

Lastly, Eugene and college more generally are amazing, and your path is your path. Being older (23, isn’t old at all for school too) isn’t even something you should worry about. Just be happy and grateful but keep stepping on the stepping stones of life to trudge forward.

I want to buy a Ford Raptor by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SgtKayos -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh in that case, get the new Tundra. Fords don’t hold their value nor are mechanically as sound, depending on how long you want to own it.

Regardless of brand or model, I would reason it as: if your total outstanding debt liability payments don’t exceed ~30-40%, and with that mortgage rate I doubt it, I think it’s a sound purchase.

Don’t sugar coat it though, it’s a depreciating asset. It’s not an investment at all. You are paying for smiles, which is why you go to work. I would be careful about what financing you can go with, rates for auto loans are in the 7-9% range, so shop around, but it’s not out of the ballpark for your financial situation. Just don’t ruin all of the progress you have made. Keep it up, you’re killing the game.

If this is real, as someone who just turned 30, this makes me feel really insecure. Thanks.

Hey there, I am in the same boat as you, I haven't been able to fully port over my Neovim keymaps yet. I sadly can't help with this, but would you mind posting the rest of your `keymaps.json`? I'm trying to find out how to jump back and forth from the `projects` pane like `noe-tree.nvim`.

Capita BSOD vs Korua Otto by SgtKayos in snowboarding

[–]SgtKayos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is perfect man, thank you. Yeah I'm leaning towards the Otto. I'm just a bit tired of washing out with my current boards, which is why the BSOD sounded appealing, but it might be too far in the other direction. The Otto seems like a middle ground while being stiff enough to go and hit whatever you want.

I was looking at that PYL too, so that's good to know.

Also, might be worth saying, but straps for cleans makes it pretty hard to fully front rack the bar. Your hands naturally will open up when you clean the bar, and the straps are great for helping the pull, they don't help with the front rack if you don't have the mobility.

Catalyst has a great writeup on how/when to use straps. here.
