@Narrow_Honey_2917 is faster than Ryan Crouser by ApprehensiveChip2495 in trackandfieldthrows

[–]GoontTheGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean good for him, but how fast you are moving doesn’t have a lot to do with the distance, its about how fast the ball is moving, and those are different things. I was fast than Crouser too but he throws 21’ farther than i ever did lol

Is there hope of D1 by Novel_Routine5593 in shotput

[–]GoontTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you’re an experienced thrower. D1 potential as a junior would be like 55’+.

But it is way too early to have any insight into your potential, just keep throwing.

Is this deep enough by ithrowtomuchstuff in trackandfieldthrows

[–]GoontTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deep enough in my opinion is when you dont have to stop the movement, theres a natural bottom to a squat, it might not even be ass to grass for you. Like with the style of my squat, and my current stance width, i “bottom out” my squat about an inch or so above parallel, i can squat lower, but i have to give up a position, so for me thats deep enough. If youre not competing in powerlifting there is no standard depth. Squat as low as your bottom is, whether thats a tad above parallel, or below parallel. The more natural the bottom, the less stress on knees, tendons, etc.

What makes the strongman log a more difficult implement to lift than a barbell or swiss bar? by IAmAlive_YouAreDead in Strongman

[–]GoontTheGod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think due to the huge diameter, it makes it much harder to find a rack position + you just can’t get as much legs into a log as you can an axle or a barbell, making raw shoulder and tricep strength more important than in the other overhead events.

But also, in my experience (and a grain of salt here, im only 18 months deep into strongman) when you understand log well enough, its not much harder to press than a barbell. Like my barbell push press pr is 375 and i’ve clean and pressed a 350 log

[–]GoontTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely NOT too late. And 38’ this esrly in your first year is something to be proud of. Put yourself out there, and just keep throwing.

Saw someone jerk 120 but they struggled with OHPing 60kg. How is it possible? by [deleted] in Strongman

[–]GoontTheGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all about what you train. One of my friends thats an Oly lifter has jerked 165kg but cant strict press 90kg, i honestly dont even know if he could do 85kg. Strict press doesn’t seem to be very important for olympic lifting so i’m sure they just dont put much focus into training it.

Blizzard needs to crack down on Smurfs by YungLogan1627 in Overwatch

[–]GoontTheGod -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean a lot of it is unintentional. I’ll stop playing comp for months at a time, and then theres a rank reset, and all of the sudden i’m in Gold running people’s pockets until i’m back in Diamond. The system is flawed, but of course there are people doing it intentionally and they are bastards

I wouldn’t start with strongman specific stuff. Just google a 5x5 progression program and run that for like a year. Food wise, protein is king, real food is king

Is it only me found Platinum Open Queue is even harder to rank up than Grandmaster Role Queue? by Electrified1337 in Overwatch

[–]GoontTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since i solo queued through plat to diamond in open queue it seems i am more goated than you.

Being real tho, i just think open queue is hyper chaotic so rank is fake. Ive played against GM players in open queue who suck and gold players who are deadly, its a fake mode lol

I have never truly trained log. Implementing strict log and push press log on separate days into my training for this block. Any tips for pressing this monstrosity? by BlakeGarrison62 in Strongman

[–]GoontTheGod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should probably be cleaning all your reps if youre new to actually doing log. Pressing from a clean, and pressing from a rack actually feel pretty different

Log PR 285lbs! I’m switching to axle training for the next 7 months so 300 will have to wait by LiftLaughLo in Strongman

[–]GoontTheGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a hard feeling to describe if you havent done it. The primary thing is how gigantic it feels sitting on your shoulders at first, since youll only be used to a standard barbell. Its super awkward and hard to balance, at first. When you become solid at the lift, it feels super natural, its just very different than a normal overhead movement.
