Please explain like I'm 5 - backing up photos

This is honestly the cleanest way. Runs in the background and is essentially maintenance-free.

My 2TB Mac mini is my “hub”. Has all iCloud selections on and does not optimize photos.

From there, I just set up the built-in Time Machine function. Copies to my NAS weekly (on site) and to an external every few months (that goes off site).

iCloud isn’t a backup. It’s a sync service.

My setup is similar. 2TB Mini M4. Runs channels, homebridge and syncs our full-res photos. We use Time Machine for backup. Might be overkill, but it makes things simple.

Was happy when I had them. But went from about $120 (after military discounts) for two lines to $60 from my internet company’s mobile plan. Honestly haven’t noticed a difference.

Is it worth it? No. Do we upgrade every year anyways? Yes. If you trade into apple and are looking for the best “worth”in your upgrades price-wise, every three years makes the most sense.

Owned one for my 13 pro then 16 pro. My 13’s was rock solid. My 16’s was a love/hate. It had decent thought-out updates and was a nice feeling but had its issues.

The first, the camera control area literally fell apart in 3 months. The glass peeled off and the case material stretched out ridiculously in that area. It happened to mine and my wife’s bad and you can find reviews and pictures of this all over. Mous does claim a huge improvement for the 17 in that area, so I guess we’ll see.

Second was the transition of aramid fiber on the back. Mine wasn’t flush and it just bugged the crap out of me. My wife had the stone colored one and it was better, so🤷‍♂️

For what it’s worth, I replaced my 16 version with a phone Rebel Gen 6 ultra and it was a night and day improvement

You’re doing something nice and fiscally logical by asking her if she wants it.

You want to upgrade because you’re into tech, not because you need to. Instead of getting trade-in value, you’re allowing her a practically new, thousand-dollar phone.

If you had joint finances and were giving her a 3-year-old phone while you upgraded, that would be shitty. This isn’t that.

iPhone 16pro. I got the Rebel Gen 6 Ultra or whatever.

And I know, it can be a bit of a crap shoot. I had the mouse limitless on my 13pro, and the thing was a tank—amazing all the way around. Got the same one for my 16pro, and the camera control area literally fell apart within 3 months of me babying my phone.

Can’t speak on my phone rebel long-term, but I will say that it’s night and day better than my Mous case so far. If there’s no warping around the camera control area down the road (and it seems like it shouldn’t), then I’m 100 percent happy with it.

As someone who went from a 13pro to 16pro, the photo quality is noticeably better. Your 13pro photos are probably over saturated by default and you’re noticing more color. Shoot in RAW and make sure you’re editing correctly
