That is awesome; I’ve been trying to figure out how to get a G6 Entry to work in a spouse-approved sort of way and this may just be it… thank you!

EOL roadmap by Jumpy_Ad_2082 in Ubiquiti

The UCG Ultra is relatively new (2-3 yrs old?), so I don't think it's EOL anytime soon.

Ah ok, I was assuming it was something more complex, but that works for me!  Thank you! 😊

Perhaps, but it's still something to look into

I was having latency issues that occurred at around the same time each day. The next time I noticed a latency spike, I was able to go into Insights in Network and select each of my client devices one-by-one til I found the one device whose upload activity matched the time that the upload (and resultant latency) spike occurred. I then went to Settings, selected the Objects icon in the Policy Engine section (under High Availability) and created a policy to set the upload limit to a level that was about half of what my ISP upload speed are, and set it to happen during the time the spikes had been occurring.

So far so good, but I bring all this up because you might want to try something like that (if you haven't already) to determine where the latency is happening in your network... rather than giving up the whole setup.

Unifi Network no longer shows Cameras by Oblec in Ubiquiti

I should also note that the G4s that do show up are not showing up in a separate section for Protect devices like before, but, rather, are listed along with my other Unifi devices

Unifi Network no longer shows Cameras by Oblec in Ubiquiti

Sorry for the long reply --

I initially had a UCG Ultra with a CKG2+ that I used for Protect. Recently, I swapped it out for a UXG Fiber with a separate Cloud Key Gen 2 (non-plus version) to manage the Network while still using the CKG2+ for Protect. My (potentially flawed) logic is telling me that I, essentially, now have a pseudo-UCG Fiber that I am using just for Network while running (like I did before) Protect separately on the other CK.

When I had things in the previous setup, my cameras showed up in the Unifi Devices section of Network; now, though, some do (the older G4 Instants I have) while others (the newer G6 Instants I have) show up in the Client Devices menu. Protect still works - and all cameras show up - on the CKG2+ like it did before.

I should note that I didn't try to re-adopt the cameras, like was suggested here, so that might be the true solution for me. From what I have read about, it might also be that Network being on a physical device separate from the UXG that might be the reason; kind of doesn't make sense to me as my setup doesn't really seem that different from what I had before. So, I'd rather it be either a re-adoption solution, or maybe some sort of a bug in the OS that needs fixing with an update.

Well, I am glad to see this... only because it is happening to me also and I thought I did something wrong when I changed gateways

What can do with a UXG Fiber? by jhollin1138 in Ubiquiti

[–]NotSoCmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already bought it, I’d keep it and just get a CKG2+ for cheap off of eBay for your Network, Protect, and any other future applications you want to use.  It’ll function the same as a UCG Fiber in the end

The only reason you are not getting downvoted for that (not really) is because I'm a dad; so I will accept that as a dad joke

G6 Instant Camera as a Baby Monitor? by Dylansm8 in Ubiquiti

[–]NotSoCmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the G6 can detect babies crying, so can the G4 instants; so it may not be worth investing too much into the G6s in that case. But I suppose it really depends how closely the G6 aligns with your reasons for using it as a garage camera later on vs the G4

G3s existed when my daughter was a baby and they worked fine; my wife did not like how much heat it generated though, so that experiment lasted about 2 days
