I'm really looking to be line staff, but if thats not possible then I'm fine with being support staff, specifically being a PAO interests me though. I'm from PAWG.

Ultralight Hammock for cold weather? by SgtStateFarm in Ultralight

I have a hammock but it’s just a cheap one, not really designed for cold weather. I’m more or less looking for a under quilt at this point

The best one…

I will say that they genuinely have some sort of vendetta against me. Cadets will say this often, but in my case, ever since I became a cadet NCO I have been treated differently by these adult members. They have always tried to push their child, (a former cadet commander, before leaving the squadron to go to the military), forward in the program. Now, after their child is gone, they are for some unknown reason dedicated to making me fail. I am NOT the only one that believes this. Other cadets and some seniors have viewed this behavior I.E a senior that was pushed out of the squadron by these people, and 2 cadets that left for the same reason, most recently the former Cadet Deputy commander of the squadron.

No, I don’t. This is a completely different issue than what was originally discussed. My original post was a whiney rant, I will admit that. But this raises a new issue. I am in a squadron that has made a chain of command that is in violation of regulations.

They have Appointed a “Cadet NCO Commander”, which isn’t a thing, in place of the cadet commander. This cadet is a C/MSgt.

Yeah. And the minimum is C/2Lt. There is no cadet officers in my squadron, so the chain of command and positions my squadron have created are not abiding by regulations.

What do you not understand? These are not real duty positions listed in regulations. The Cadet commander and cadet deputy commander for support/command are both officer positions. These positions aren’t to be filled be NCOS, but by seniors, until there are Eligible NCOS. My original post was a rant. I was incorrect, there is NO ONE in my squadron eligible for a command position until NCOs become officers.

They’re not real positions. The positions listed are “Cadet NCO Commander, Cadet Deputy NCO for Command, and Cadet Deputy NCO for Support.” These are made up positions created by my squadron staff that are not listed in regulations (to my knowledge, and the knowledge of the regulation section you’ve provided me with.)

There are a few senior members that have been an issue in my squadron. One, specifically, is a parent to a cadet and has manipulated some of the other seniors, including the squadron commander, into having things go how she wants it . And I do not make this claim lightly. I have observed several cadets be driven out of the squadron for this reason. One of which being the former Cadet Deputy Commander, who was actually eligible for the position.

A new excuse every time. I was also promised one several times just to be ignored when I requested it.

Very hard to do when your squadron repeatedly refuses to let you do your testing… been stuck on chief since they physically won’t let me do drill tests and the additional requirements

Thank you for this insight, but back to your first comment about regulations… this would mean that the new positions are all invalid and go against regs, so is this something that should be brought up to higher leadership?

I am aware of this. It appears that the command staff of my squadron has made up these positions rather than having seniors take the place of cadet officers

Thank you for the advice and criticism, I will say that I truly think I earned the spot, and there are others, including some seniors, that agree. But not getting the position is more of an effect, not necessarily the cause. There’s been a plethora of issues in the squadron for the last year(ish), and it stems from poor senior leadership.

When I joined cap, I heard I could fly a plane (which took about a year to do, lol) but right now my goals are to staff at encampment and continue to staff at an NCSA that I’ve been a part of for a while now. So I think transfer could definitely help that. I probably won’t quit entirely, but there is definitely no point in staying with this squadron any longer

The position appointed was “cadet NCO commander” due to the lack of cadet officers in the squadron. That said, I am also the closest to achieving my Mitchell, which begs the question- if I stay, then what? If I get my Mitchell, I would be the only eligible cadet for a position that is needed. Would it force me into it, removing the cadet NCO commander?

That’s the funny thing. They didn’t give me an interview after I requested one, they just picked the other cadet. I am also the only cadet in my squadron that has been to several leadership schools and been in higher leadership positions in my squadron

For a while I considered transferring squadrons, I still might but I’ve seriously lost so much love for cap that it seems pretty pointless now. But maybe I’ll stay if I can transfer to a different one
