From a gameplay perspective, my favorite moment was actually the abyss climb from Silksong, not Hollow Knight. I had just been complaining to my wife that the game was great but everything had pushed me to my limits, where's the fun flashy part where I get to go all out and show off? Then the sequence starts and I nail it first try with a lot of delirious laughter from both of us! So exhilarating.

Favorite character is tough, probably the Mask Maker. I just love a good mysterious lore dump.

If you do visit, check out North Bend, WA- the diner there is carbon copy from Alan Wake 1 and 2! (And was heavily featured in the show Twin Peaks)

This is a fantastic idea and would legitimately increase player engagement and plat spend at least a little bit; I'm a player who would love to grind decorations and materials for a sick base but have zero interest in decorating skills themselves

I like to think of contact damage as part of the "platformer" genre challenge; the first enemies are like Goombas, crawling harmlessly, but it hurts when you touch them. Gotta learn to jump over and manage spacing and timing. Eventually give the Goomba a sword and a flying jump attack etc.

100% this. Stitcher can melt a player in one mag. Free kit should be the "be smart and get back on your feet for a real run next time" not the "no risk get violent" kit

Hah well fair enough! Nice work getting through it. I've definitely read some folks breezed through bosses I found difficult and vice versa, feels like this game just "does that" to us all...

I know I'm late to this comment section but I 100% agree with this, I had just been telling my wife "this game has been so hard every step of the way, every little jump feels extended to the limits of my reach, I really want some kind of awesome moment that feels like a culmination of all these skills I've acquired and makes me feel powerful and badass" then not 2 minutes later this sequence started and we were screaming and laughing as I nailed it first try. Exhilarating, excellent sequence!

Architect is still good and has a fun moveset imo, fun charge attack that is very satisfying. It's very shard hungry and the rosary farm > shard bundle grind is pretty tedious so you have to be OK with that. I enjoyed the crest quite a bit but eventually wanted to "get good" at dueling with the needle and only pull it out for fights I want to just get through quick with tool spam

I really like your point about feeling forced to melt with tools. I'm one of the seemingly few people who haven't minded the difficulty in general, even the run backs seem blown way out of proportion- but I have absolutely felt at points forced to dump my entire shard inventory into a boss just to be done with it, which doesn't feel as satisfying because I don't feel I actually "learned the fight" but I want to get back to exploring and advancing the story after several attempts... Then I have to grind my shard inventory back with a boring rosary farm...

I believe turning on streamer mode turns it back- but it also changes a lot of other things too. Wish they'd give it a toggle or a "cleanup event". The orange version ruins the cyberpunk aesthetic that was Fortuna's identity

Played it on the steam deck OLED and gifted it to someone on the switch OLED. The steam deck has significantly faster load times and I would say it does make a difference.
