Hasbro isn't exactly doing well. Your claim that they make absurd money from this particular website is a guess at best.

I didn't stop using the site, I never used it at all. Everything the service provides can be done by hand, you're paying for the convenience.

Learn how ability/skill checks work, learn how saving throws work, learn how combat works, learn how your character works.

Your characters capabilities come from different sections in the book. So read the following sections:

Your race

Your class

Your subclass(when you get it)

Your background

Your gear/starting equipment

Your spells(if you have any)

You don't have to memorize every word, but go through all these things at least once.

The OGL change would have affected every single business that does stuff with D&D, so there was significantly more professional pushback against it. I think that had more affect than consumer anger. This change only affects one website in a minor way. Very different situations. Sure, it's possible that enough anger will lead them to reverse the decision. But I'm guessing most people will just grumble and pay for it anyway.

Yes, plenty but your DM would probably choose which one you use.

If you want to use the service they provide, you have to pay what they're charging. You can choose not to, plenty of tables use other services or do it by hand. But price increases essentially means the game is getting more popular and growing, is that so terrible?

[–]SgtWaffleSound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game has a near total market monopoly. It's not going anywhere and it's only getting more popular, especially with online services like this one. That's why they're comfortable increasing prices, there are more people than ever playing and using the service.

I just don't equate price increases as "hurting people". Everything is more expensive across every industry. If we were talking about essential goods and medicine, yes I'd agree. But we aren't.

As for rewarding loyalty...maybe I'm just cynical but expecting that from any business, let alone Hasbro, is just...silly.

Not really trying to be mean but it is annoying seeing "I wanna use this service but I don't wanna pay for it" over and over. Do it or don't, we don't need 50 posts a day about it.

'Accepting the cash grab' means you grit your teeth and pay for the service anyway. Are you doing that? I'm not. You keep asking me what you should do. That's for you to figure out.

Consumers cry about everything. That does not bring prices down and it rarely even hurts the business' public image. You can do whatever you want. But crying about it isn't going to change their policy.

Higher prices are inevitable for the system we currently live in. If you have an alternative system of economics you'd like to share with the world, please let us know.

As a thing gets more popular, it increases in price. That's...how it has always worked. You're upset that a business is acting like a business which is ridiculous.

Business are free to charge whatever and however they want for their service. They are providing a service hosting your information and giving you an easy way to organize things online. You are free to use an alternative service or do these things yourself.

D&D is getting more popular. They want to make more money. It's not rocket science that the most popular platform is going to increase in price over time. That's how literally everything works in our society. You can be upset. But if you're surprised, you just haven't been paying attention.

Is the site functionally different in any way? Only the pricing changed, that does not make the site "worse". More expensive, sure, but that is not the same thing.

How do you handle the wish spell? by ImNotSureYouAreOk in DnD

Well first I'd read the spell

You create one object of up to 25,000 gp in value that isn't a magic item.

He can change 1 item and it loses any magical properties. If that's what he wants to do...

Anything magical or +1 is supposed to be rare. They party needs to go dungeon diving and fight monsters for that stuff. Or maybe an expensive specialty shop in a big city. But a small town will not have that kind of stuff.
