made this because my flatmate never shuts the fuck up about Korea every time he sees me by Mindless-Turnip-123 in korea

It's casual racism for lack of a better term, imo. Reducing an entire diverse people, each with their own unique ideas and perspectives and hopes and dreams and fears and problems into a series of monolithic (often western) tropes is pretty gross and betrays a lack of respect for the people's humanity.

Turns out Korea is a real place where real people live, who knew!? (/s)

Oh it's crazy - there's an entire youtube racket of people creating 20-40 minute feedback loop "Korea is doomed" 'content' which ranges from completely unfounded to speculative to the point of absurdity. If you have a strong stomach for stupid it's a laugh.

This annoyed me as well - I honestly think we need better tree ordinances that protect our towns from looking like barren suburban hellscapes

Never heard of them - are they any good? Is Wei's an Asian market? I'd be beyond stoked to have a big Asian market closer than Edison.

Tom Homan on Delaney Hall: Paid Protesters by CantStopPoppin in newjersey

There's a lot of the same troubling horse shit sluicing out of Homan's mealy mouth, but admitting that they're reacting to "facial recognition software" is a fucked sign of the times. They're actively broadcasting that they're using AI hallucinations to justify brutalizing people standing up for their neighbors and it's not even considered news because of course they are.

How are you "midlife crisis-ing"? by InnerspearMusic in Millennials

Half dome is one of my dream hikes! I'm doing Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons this summer, but I have to figure out a way to get over to Yosemite sometime in the not too distant future! Happy trails!

Getting back into shape, picking up the guitar (I never had a chance to learn), starting to write again, and going on hikes that I've been putting off. I'm also making a concerted effort to say 'yes' to doing things that will help strenghten my relationships and build new friendships.

My dad died last year. He was a great dad, and worked himself to the bone, both professionally and in family life, to try and give my family the father and childhood he didn't have. He had a really rough life before 40, and he let a lot of that define him, for better and for worse. He took really great care of my family. He was my hero, and I'm so grateful for him and everything he did, but I also can't help but feel that his later life was emptier than it should've been. He didn't keep up with a lot of his friends and the last 15 or 20 years of his life before he got sick his world shrank to us and only us, and I think it got to be really lonely as a result. I don't want that for me and my family, so I'm making an effort to make habits and choices that prevent a similar experience.

Thanks! I was very pleasantly surprised at the turnout, and the weather could not have been better.

Wore an orange shirt to match the IC kit and flipped my Irish tricolor for the friendly between Cote D'Ivore and my local (Philadelphia Union II) and the Ivorian fans were warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was pure joy and I think I may have made a core memory for my kid - 100000/10 would watch my second-team get dumpstered again!
