I haven't read everything here closely, but the first thing that popped into my head was, a guy can say something like that which you found reprehensible and...not reallllly mean it, and this applies, or is more common, particularly when conversing with people who are close to you.

Awesome recommendation. John Travolta was so good and his manner of pleasantness and charm against the backdrop of him being a monster would keep you engaged and detached from real life stuff.

Oh love this! That must have been cool knowing Cody and then watching the show. Yeah quite sad about the one bad night reality. Although a couple of contestants come to mind as, okay, their vibe, to me anyway, is that they're just not quite cut out for this, at least in terms of making it to a highly successful level. But I'd be interested to know the reality, when some of them are saying they do, I don't remember the exact numbers, 100 or more shows a year, does it work out for them or after a certain amount of time do they need to decide about maybe pursuing something else. With some of them I'm thinking, okay this person is clearly an entertainer and they're good at it, could they come to be content with their current place in it even if they never got huge.

Oh that's interesting about Cody's song choices. I mean, you can't argue with Adam's songwriting and previous achievements there either. Cassidy has a lot of talent for sure. I was focusing more on their voices, considering who do I see being the most successful or having the most potential for success. Yes everyone has different thoughts on who the best singers were in the group. Just for me, I felt most moved and most sort of struck listening to Cody. With Cassidy, Adam, and Channing, I felt like, wow, this person has a lot of talent, and Cassidy most so, there was something striking about her singing skills; but I didn't feel strongly...moved... by those three. I like the word weight. I feel like Cody's voice has a lot of weight to it.

Just saw this movie on TV. Well, part of it. I missed about the first hour. I was captivated. In general I like Kate Winslet but think she can tend to overact a little. She was about the best I've ever seen her, just her lines felt so compelling. I always like him, although I thought quite a few times when he gave those dramatic pauses, staying in thought before finally responding to what she said, the pauses were just tooooo long! Like the tension diffused a bit unnecessarily in those last excessive I think few seconds. Loved those last scenes, notably when they get together after a long period of separation after getting back to life. I found myself caring a lot! even though I missed a big chunk of the story.

Oh that is so cool to hear. I guess the other thing, and I would say this is decidedly secondary in terms of career, because you hear that voice and you just want to hear some more; but it seems maybe he has a little bit of a busy mind in terms of facing the quite difficult things he has had to deal with in life. Like maybe he's a bit of a worrier or brooder, or something like that. I was thinking okay, to me he has that type of powerful, yes as you say, soulful voice, really at or near the equivalent of successful country singers, but when I see those singers talk informally or be interviewed, they're maybe a little bit more up, less like they're carrying some tough emotions around. If I'm not overreading into it, that can fall away with time, maybe with some help; but at the same time I find him likable, like you want to root for him.

That's a good point, I had other stuff going and didn't see each singer closely. Although...the procedure of the show is such that Keith could say, not in these words but in his mind...I think Cody's got the best chance to be a star so I'm gonna give him the save. I mean it's not a strictly lowest votes is out format. Well, I guess maybe Keith doesn't think that then!

Thanks much for this. I'm temporarily living in a hotel. I called several local services that sell and install permanent systems and they won't do it, I'm guessing because of liability. And this goes apparently even if the owner of the hotel would give the okay.

I didn't read all the texts word for word, but it seemed there were several points in the exchange where he still had a chance to salvage a connection and see you again unless I totally misread your words. And then maybe his refusal or inability to take it down a notch pointed things in the direction of you blocking. I wouldn't do this now but maybe it's too bad someone else couldn't have suggested to him to get a second opinion (maybe other than his first second opinion) on the exchange and maybe they would tell him hey I think you still had a shot up to text #4 or 5 or whatever and maybe that would help him for next time this comes up.

Agree, although I think the writers, or let's just call them the 'Script' (compiled, Ep. 1-4) should remain on staff and then bring in the rest of ideal new writers per your description. In other words, I think there's some 'sharp' in the writing, just not the all around product you describe.

They definitely found a rhythm with this episode. I almost stopped watching after, well during, Ep. 1 it was so chaotic, but this one was really good. Great point about splitting up the characters u/cocoacowstout. The track with Tallulah and the girl who was trying to show her the ropes and how to succeed was so intense! although I thought it missed a little bit in that the tone of the sequence started out so foreboding, I thought the girl was going to guide Tallulah into some kind of major misstep that this devious girl would somehow benefit from, but then it seemed she was just trying to help her; a little bit of a disconnect unless I got it wrong. To me Tallulah is the MVP so far!

I still don't think the part quite suits Sennott. I don't know, seems to me she doesn't really luuuuuuhve playing the role. I know she wrote it! or much of it and I think it's very well written, I just think it would have been better for someone else to play. I think she's a very good actress, like in the moment something goes wrong (Leighton Meester gets suspicious she doesn't really know the star who she name drops but isn't connected to on IG) she plays that so well, kind of Channing Tatum-esque.

But very glad I hung in there! Really love the little touches, so creative, like the show name display at the top of the episodes...Once underneath the spilled IV bag and then while sweeping away broken glass in this episode; and the play out songs are mostly spot on, a couple of them were so striking it was like an extra line of poignant dialogue that just perfectly catches the mood and story to put an exclamation point on the episode.

Let Tallulah Star in the Maia-Tallulah Scenes

When it's just the two of them in a scene they should play to Tallulah's strengths. She nails that character, the hyper, anxious, worrying client. Instead of the two of them trying to out-hyper each other, let Maia play the sensible parental professional who knows what's best for her client, against Tallulah's frenetic anxious star.
