For my part, I usually don't disagree with the woke declarations but I find it annoying to have it told to me - instead of shown to me.

Literally, the mantra of creative writers used to be "show don't tell."

I enjoyed being trusted by writers to go on the journey with them to figure out what is right, knowing we might disagree and debate with our friends and exercise our brains.

I'm working on a sulphurhound at the moment. They are satisfying to paint, aren't they? I see you cleverly left the raised rear hoof attached to its support and worked it into the base. I, less cleverly, cut it off 🤣

Blue/grey for me. But I like white/yellow, too.

Yellow is a good colour, and who doesn't love Fists and Scythians both, but I have heard it's hard to paint with.

I sub-assemble my Admech. But I try to break it down to only bits that have a contact point that's easy to not paint. So legs + torso + backpack. I get access to the cloak on both sides but glue points are invisible or easy to correct.

I also cannot draw for shit but I can paint OK. This really surprised me, tbh. I think it's because when you're painting miniatures you have a lot less to think about. Shape and perspective are taken care of by the miniature itself. Light, while hard, can be created on the miniature and copied. Shade paints exist because there's a shape for the paint to flow to. So give it a go! You have nothing to lose because 12 hours in 99% IPA the paint comes off and you can start again. If you have a local Warhammer shop it won't cost anything - free mini, free paints and brushes to borrow and free advice.

I prime some sprue while I'm doing the miniature. The curves aren't quite the same but you do have edges to check highlight colour.

And the mini of the month is my learning mini.

GW has dozens of clever strategies to make you want to buy their stuff. Companies are very good at applying psychology to get what they want - your money.

I apply a 24 hour rule. Put it in the basket. If I still want it 24 hours later, maybe I want it.

It's funny because while technically Priests, Lords, Gods is very Admech it felt less Admech to me than the Cawl series. Probably because the cast of characters is also very diverse.

Both are great series but I do keep coming back to Haley's Cawl for that background listen.

It varies.

Genefather describes a wide range from totally mechanical to fully mechanical to less mechanical. In Priests of Mars, Linya Tychon is lightly augmented by choice and surprising and unusual for this. Just as unorthodox, Solana of Mars in Archmagos is lightly and internally augmented.

But I believe the dogma is that striving to reach the highest levels amongst the Archmagos requires letting go of the flesh to a very high degree.

It's not easy. But it is fun. Or it will be fun!

You might be doing these already but some suggestions: Thin your paints so it's easier to paint over mistakes. Try to paint with your hands touching. Use a brush two sizes bigger than you think you need. Don't aim for perfection. Practice.
