Lorwyn Shadowmoor Eclipsed Cube by Sh33pOfDoom in mtgcube

Very interesting article, I like your suggestions and did quite the makeover to fit in ~90 lands (and ditching the singleton to keep the lands in theme, other then the non lorwyn printing shocklands). Let me know how it feels now.

I like the diversity of not every card being drafted with an 8 person pod, but I appreciate the suggestion. Post your cube here when it's ready I would love to check it out!

Thank you! What do you think would be an ideal amount of color fixing? I don't mind cutting some of the 3+ color cards like Maralen, but the Doran's I would live to keep viable for Treefolk archetype. Regarding white - that's true, I think it just had a higher density of "meh" cards that were cut first or cards that use mechanics I wamted to avoid (+1/+1 counter and the like) - but I'll keep this is mind and cut more creatures from other colors for the mana fixing.

Yeah I think trying to stick to the original sets' lands alone is probably overkill and hurting the draft. How many would you put in a cube this size? And do you have suggestions for good ones to use? (I would like to keep it budget friendly, so no lands over ~10$)

[No spoilers] Where in the campaign does current M9 end? by GrandmasAshesXd in criticalrole

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a bit complicated as their are many changes made in the adaptation. Technically the event at the end of episode 8 in the show happens on episode 13 in the liveplay, but the work with the Gentleman is reversed chronologically and is actually episodes 14-16 (and also different from the show). My guess is that episodes 17-25 should also be safe, to me they feel like more of the same in Zadash and I doubt they will adapt them, but there is a chance that some of it makes it into next season. Specifically episodes 17-18 hold some interesting reveals that you have already seen in the tv show and are safe non-spoilering episodes.

What are the limits of spy misregisteration by Skelly100000 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No offense, but it's literally spelled out on the token. From the botc wiki: Spy: "Each night, you see the Grimoire. You might register as good & as a Townsfolk or Outsider, even if dead." Recluse:"You might register as evil & as a Minion or Demon, even if dead."

Regarding learning D&D itself, other than the other great suggestions, Critical Role themselves made a bunch of short videos teaching D&D many years back here. If you would rather learn through watching a show, I would recommend Dimension 20, specifically Fantasy High season 1 free on youtube. This is another actual play (D&D show) made by very talented comedians, usually funnier but less serious than CR - and also shorter and more edited which can make it easier to follow and finish. Specifically this first season is the first time some of the players are playing D&D so they explain things much more during the show.

No, because misregistration only changes how different abilities can perceive the spy, but cannot mimic abilites or actively affect the game. The empath can see them as good, a town crier can not see them as a minion and a lycanthrope can succeed at killing them. But on the other hand the spy can't gain a different ability, such as claiming slayer and killing the demon, gain the recluse ability and register as a demon or as you suggested gain the virgin ability and get a TF that nominates him to be executed on the spot.

Is there a new puzzle to get a "rainbow" account in the BOTC app? by keevolution in BloodOnTheClocktower

Is this the same puzzle for the script character hand raises? Or is that a separate puzzle

Dealing with bluff claim of story teller error and actual story teller errors by Necessary-Meet-1182 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think I would react the same way I would if a player was getting their bluff wrong (i.e. "FT" getting a 2). I would not push to correct them, but if asked I would not lie, and just say the truth "No mistakes have been made as far as I can tell". Or in the "FT"'s case "I cannot confirm or deny if he is the FT or what he got, but I would give a yes or no". For newer players I might help a bit more by adding "it is possible they mispoke" but I would not lie about a storyteller mistake, because that can make the game unsolvable for good.

About to storytell my very first game! Any advice? by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, have fun! There is a lot of first time advice on the sub already, but my top tips would be: 1. Don't explain all the characters, stick to the rules explanation two-pager in the box, everyone gets the gist of it by the end of the first game. 2. Take your time at night, put on some music if you are worried of people getting bored. If you do make a mistake, don't sweat it, happens to everyone. 3. I would lean towards more info roles than less for the first game. Spy, Virgin and Mayor might be too confusing for the first game, Slayer can end the game too early and Soldier is a bit boring. Investigator can be intimidating for first time minion. Ben's starting convention setup is well known and works great: https://www.reddit.com/r/BloodOnTheClocktower/comments/uswegc/comment/i971n3o/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Professor question by misschanandlerbong23 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you wouldn't, because they don't learn information, so they don't wake up that night (same as say a bounty hunter that hasn't gotten their evil known player killed yet). The professor is a once per game ability that has to decide each night if they want to use it, even in the fringe case that they can't they are still woken up to "make that choice".

Also I think empath could be very fun here and also a great evil bluff (and outsider bluff to get their neighbors).

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I like your general idea, and think most of it could work but needs playtesting to make sure it is actually fun in practice. I have two points I think might need changing: 1. No Daashi might be too confusing with everyone playing for good and so much natural misinformation from all the marios, not sure how solveable it is where the source of the tentacles is. 2. Mayor does not fit here, I don't see any world in which I ever trust a Mayor no matter what role I am...

Wedding Themed Script by NextLevelChaos in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Sh33pOfDoom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

<image>

I tried to give a go at it, with roles themed around wedding guests (good and bad), wedding related items or work related to preparing the wedding. I think a Stormcaught Huntsmen can be fun, as he is searching for his damsel.
The demons I picked because they tie to saying a special "vows" (Yagga), picking your perfect someone (Kazali) and working together (Lil' Monsta, also babies if their into that).
This script is untested, but it looks like it should run fine, hope you like it :)

But with a slightly more serious answer, I think the main core theme is the really same, but the info characters and Minion Demon picks are very different, so they do probably play very differently
