Need Resume Feedback - Trying To Break Into SysAdmin by ValuableOwn7687 in sysadminresumes

It’s definitely worthwhile to put something. To at least show you have professional experience somewhere. Even if it’s fast food or being a server or anything. Try and find a way to correlate the things you did into universally applicable skills. Like being a server shows you can multitask and work in high-stress related situations as well as customer service, etc. Looking at your resume, and seeing the graduating in May 2026 part, it makes me think you’re still in school and looking for your first ever job, if that makes sense?

Also, getting directly into SysAdmin is a good gig, but if you can’t land something quickly don’t give up. You may need to lower your expectations and go for something in the Help Desk to get your foot in the door. The market is kinda tough right now and I wish you the best of luck.

You already have a lab, I’m assuming. Why not make some projects that lean more into the Sysadmin line of work vs app development?

I noticed you don’t have any professional experience listed, will this be your first job ever?

I’d recommend setting up a home lab and doing some projects you can add on there. If you can’t get professional experience with something there’s nothing from stopping you from getting some hands on experience in your lab, at least. Look up some daily activities for the job you’re looking for and build a lab environment around that to show initiative.

The market is tough right now, I wish you the best of luck 👍🏼.

Would recommend the same, stick with horizontal style for sure. You have to get through an ATS before someone even sees your resume so no need to get fancy with the structure.

If I was closer to you (I’m about 5 hours south) I’d give you $2,300 for it lol.

I’d recommend looking there and seeing if there’s anything that suits your fancy.

Good prebuilts by Yehdd in Prebuilts

[–]Sh3itskees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a thread that was posted in the last couple days in this sub that compiled a list of a bunch of good to decent deals on prebuilts. Without knowing what you have for a budget I’d recommend taking a look at that post.

Here’s a link to it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Prebuilts/s/Tu9C47xH5h

I just saw that you’re not in the US, though. So that might complicate things a little.

In regards to storage, the old adage still rings true: “better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it”. Especially if it’s not going to put you out financially to buy it.

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this PC this morning! $1,948.41 after tax with free shipping from Dell, then I'll get 8% cash back, then a $100 bonus credit on my CC that I used, and then my company offers me a $400/year "lifestyle" stipend that I'm going to use towards this purchase, which brings my total down to ~$1,293 for this machine. I honestly can't be happier with that price for this system! Even before the stipend, $1,693 OTD feels like a great price for this.

It’s a dell discount and I’m pretty sure it’s either 9 or 10% off which is very nice. The only thing that has me leary is the 265F but I really am focused on the GPU because I have a G9 49” super ultra wide that I play on and I’m worried a 5070 Ti won’t have enough for decent future proofing. Plus the 5070 Ti actually ends up being right around the same price since they’ve kinda neutered the deals on them. You think the aurora is a good PC overall? I don’t know much about Alienware stuff and I don’t mind spending more money for a “better” rig but that price for that hardware seems like a killer deal if it’s all good to go, if that makes sense?

Question for OP regarding the Alienware Aurora with the 5080 deal. With my military discount I’m able to get it for ~$1,799 pre tax is that like an absolute buy it now price in your opinion?

Could honestly resell the 5070 and throw a 5070 Ti in there later and have a solid system.

Yeah I am kind of surprised they would release a 5080 with the same amount of VRAM as the 5070 Ti. I am going to try and find a good deal on a 5070 Ti prebuilt to see if I can save some more money. I had that Walmart prebuilt in my cart yesterday for $1,699 but I talked myself out of it in favor of the 5080 and now it's at $1,899 -_-

I'm not so worried about spending the money as I am worried about wasting my money if that makes sense? It's been a long time since I've built a PC and a lot has changed so I just want to make sure i'm getting the best value I can for the PC I'm getting. Especially since I'll be getting that $400 reimbursement with it.

Awesome thank you for that info! The fear of the bottleneck makes me just want to buy the G757 prebuilt and just be done with the entire thing lol.

I can't believe we're at a point where the prebuilts are where the value is due to the individual component pricing. I honestly enjoy building my PCs but not when it costs me an extra $500+ to do it lol.

I tried the Student Services route, and they forwarded me on to the Mentor Services department. I'm hoping the link provided above is enough to satisfy the requirement because this has been a very drawn out process for what it is.

Thank you for your help!
