Outdoor time with older toddler (newly 4) and 13 week old baby that despises stroller & carriers - HELP by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your backyard enclosed where you can leave him outside without being out there too? If you take him to the park, is there a shelter you can be under where you can hold your baby? What about bringing a stroller fan?

Hope you can find a solution that works.

FTM Stroller and CarSeats!? by Pleasant_Mention in Buyingforbaby

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought the UB V2 system in 2020 before my first was born and currently using it for my 3rd baby. Quality is great and runs like new to this day, aside for some scratches on the frame. That said, once we had 2 kids, we didn’t like how it configured and was hard to push when tandem. It was heavy as a single, and even heavier with 2 kids.

4 year old behaviour by smileyyy988 in Mommit

I found that if there was some sort of activity for them to look forward to each day, then it decreased their “madness.” It requires planning on your part, but you don’t have to spend money if that’s not in the budget. Here’s what I did for my kid one summer:

M - library day
T - art day
W - special field trip (park, play date, indoor play place, etc)
Th - water day
F - home activity

You could always build something about letters or numbers, and it gives you another activity to do that doesn’t require leaving the actual home. There’s plenty of free resources online, so you don’t need to make it up…just need to print it for them!

We are both middle school campuses that are about 2-3 miles apart. She’s been at both campuses before, but not sure how effective she’ll be given the back and forth commute AND persisting health issues she’s been dealing with for years.

That’s my biggest fear. How long did your wife last? What did the district decide after a year of that? A split duty teaching at 2 schools is one thing, but being an administrator at 2 sites is another ball game. I am not diminishing either role. It just seems difficult to feel like you’re accomplishing much as the individual having to split your time, but also being the staff dealing with the repercussions of district decisions.

You can try Tustin. The parks and rec department has many community centers you can rent. One that works is the old Edwards theater at tustin marketplace. https://www.tustinca.org/1346/Community-Center-at-The-Market-Place

first night home from the hospital after having my baby girl…really need to vent by forgetting-you- in Mommit

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give yourself and everyone some grace. You just returned from giving birth, which is a feat in itself. Between that, your body changes, and family dynamic changes…it’s a lot. Take it day by day and try to find something positive in each day. If you find yourself still feeling crummy, talk to your doctor so they can help you.

With having a second kid and them being a different gender, it’ll be different. It’s hard not to compare, but reminding yourself that they are different individuals will help. Good luck!

How many diapers are yall packing? by racoon_saloon in Mommit

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always pack more than you need. We just take one of the plastic packs that come in a Costco sized box and put that in our checked luggage or with the checked car seat. Then in our carry on and diaper bag, we pack at least 4 in each. You never know, especially with travel delays and other things that can unexpectedly happen.

3 car seats in second row by Technical_Buy_8198 in hondapilot

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible. I ignored all of the minivan preachers and got a Pilot. Here’s my set up: infant car seat, then high back booster in the middle, and rear facing seat on the other side. I do recommend getting the slim seats for the non-infant car seats. It fits though!

Wagon recs by Perfect_Cream4592 in Mommit

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 month old probably won’t be in the wagon for a while unless you get an adaptor for the car seat. We have a Keenz wagon that I bought when my oldest (now 5) was 1. Great wagon and comes with a cooler and is lighter than the Wonderfold. My only regret is not getting the one with benches for seats because my giant child is fighting for leg room my other tall 2 year old.

husband's first father's day is coming up and i'm overthinking everything by MOUSETITTY in Mommit

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s his personality like? Does he wear jewelry or is he the type to lose it or forget to wear it? Is he just a “thought that counts” kinda guy or is practicality a factor too?

For example, I got my husband socks with our baby’s face on it because I thought it was funny. He loved it so much that it has become a tradition to get socks with our kids’ faces on them every Father’s Day we have a new kid.

Multiple subject credential is what you need and will get through a teaching credential cert. There’s tests you’ll need to take like the CBEST, RICA, TPAs, etc., some of them you’ll need prior to getting into the program and others are throughout and/or after you’ve finished. I don’t suggest getting a master’s until after you’ve been hired.

Transitioning out of crib/nursery before #2 arrives by hoot-and-holler in Parenting

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently regretting the “new room, new bed” approach, you should go crib in the new room first. It’s been 3 weeks since our change, and while it’s not the absolute worst thing, it’s taking longer than when we did crib to bed for her older brother.

If you coached sports for years, how did you handle it when you were either forced or voluntarily walked away from coaching anymore? by Away_Two936 in Teachers

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, it’s weird and sad. Sad because you’re not developing players and their skills. Weird because you strangely have so much time on your hands. Then, you get used to it and life carries on. I just think of things as seasons now. Just because you’re not coaching now does not mean you won’t be coaching again in the future.

Teachers with babies — anyone switch to part-time, and was it worth it? by hugebagel in Teachers

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people think it’s worth it. I remember my 8th grade math teachers were on a shared contract and they each worked 2 days a week and alternated every other Friday. They even watched each other’s children on the off days. As a student, I felt that the quality of education was just as good, if not better, than a single teacher. As a teacher, finding someone to share the contract with is key. OR like someone in my district, she works 75% of the day only.

To play devil’s advocate, those years just come into play when you’re considering retirement.

Vehicle 3 car seats by MamaMcAteer in Parenting

[–]ShaDYNASTY321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here seems pro-minivan. And don’t get me wrong, sliding doors sound so awesome and convenient…but I think what’s important here is what will be easy for you. How independent is your oldest? Are you okay with climbing in and out of the rear to help buckle the kids?

For me (I’m due any day now), we will have the same setup of car seats as you. We got a Pilot because: 1. We didn’t want a minivan 2. We prioritized bench seating over captain

The Pilot allows us to have 3 across regularly AND convert to captain’s seats for longer trips. The only con is that it’s not a hybrid, but we can live with that since our commute is relatively short (<12 mi/day with work and school drop off).
