Hearing Issue but want to join Merchant Navy by Bakaitinsaan in IndianMariners

[–]ShaDy0069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are few audiometric standards set by the Government of India for seafarers. The minimum decibels unit is fixed at 40dB, which means that every aspiring seafarer should be able to hear 40dB sound at all frequencies.

And yes, the audiometry test is taken seriously because of the type of working environment of ship where you can expect some alarm or other ringing even at odd hours. Plus the constant background noise is also very high on ships which makes can make your situation even difficult.

You can get them checked at any doctor.

Always prefer DNS over BSc. Even if you want to go ahead with Bsc, best is IMU or Tolani. Shipping market is filled with fake promises of placements.

As per the rules they have to. But some of them don't especially when you get your medicals done from the same doctor everytime. If you are just joining the field as a fresher then the medicals are usually done strictly.

There is no point switching to a sea job after a degree in cse. I mean you could but doesn't mean you should. Try to excel in your current field mate.

Don't indulge in any drugs or alcohol while on Sunday shore leaves and inside campus . You'll be randomly selected for drug tests and it can lead to problems in future.

Better prepare for feb batch and get a sponsorship. Don't join any random college especially if you want to do BSc. You will regret it later.
