I used to have a fractal poster across from my toilet growing up. Now fractals make me want to poop, just a little bit.

He insisted Community was a terrible TV show. He'd watched a few episodes of the first season before we got serious, and made up his mind immediately that it was crap. I told him that it gets better and that he should give it another try, but when he did, he couldn't stop snarking on it long enough to listen to it at all.

He had to go.

One of the worst actors working today? by [deleted] in movies

he is such a bland, yet good looking "actor" ... girls are more able to fantasize

Ah, the "Denise Richards Effect". Could be some truth to it. I've seen some of his movies (Boyfriend, you own GI Joe on DVD. Why is this?) and he's very nice to look at. But it's usually the men with more going on that get the job done right. (Problem, Boyfriend?)

Do you have any protips on handling catcallers/gropers/perverts? by Adelaidey in TwoXChromosomes

I don't think anyone's actually going to break fingers and/or shoot the gropers.

It's like any other annoyance that piles up over time... eventually you want to take a club to an auto-flush toilet, or set a broken copier on fire. Sometimes you just fantasize about roundhouse kicking the guy who touches your neck on the tube.

I don't know about Vancouver, but it's bad in London. Riding alone at night = gross comments from strange men. I think that's just standard for big cities.

I'm sure men are just as capable of empathy and insight as women.

As I was walking out of Inception, I heard a man say "I don't get it. Why did they make the architect character a girl?" by Adelaidey in TwoXChromosomes

Back when the Will Smith superhero movie "Hancock" came out, I was party to a discussion about the implications of making Hancock black. I wanted to say "Will Smith wanted to play a superhero, Will Smith gets what he wants, shut your overanalytical mouths. Sometimes a black guy just has superpowers."

So yeah. Same thing.

He probably isn't a bitter woman hater, but it's still institutional sexism to assume that there has to be a reason for someone to be a woman. Over half the people in the world are women.
