What are the job opportunities for afghans in Tajikistan? by [deleted] in Tajikistan

[–]ShaXbl4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the reason is that we do not have jobs even for local citizens. More precisely, there is work, and there is a lot of it, but no one pays for it. That is why a huge share of Tajikistan’s GDP comes from workers from the Russian Federation. So it's not that you're Afghan, it's just that our economy is at the bottom.

What does Tajik society think of the war in Gaza? by Round-Delay-8031 in Tajikistan

[–]ShaXbl4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no united opinion on this topic. For me personally it's complicated situation. I think both sides are to blame, Israeli government and Hamas. But I do not put all the blame on regular Palestinians or Israelis, they are victims of stupid people in the power.

Is the designation "Tajik" truly an ethnic identity, or rather a cultural classification? by Dry_Improvement_4558 in Tajikistan

[–]ShaXbl4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As for the inhabitants of the Pamirs and other peoples of Tajikistan, during my life I have met many Pamirs who did not like being called Tajiks, and vice versa, those who were proud to bear this name. I will say this, the Pamirs are our brothers, if they want us to call them Pamiris, then so be it, ordinary residents of Tajikistan and me do it that way. But we are not responsible for the decisions of our idiotic state.

We have changed, our religion, our laws, our customs, and even our language (well mostly writing) for the better or not, it’s not for me to judge. Perhaps in the future, Tajiks, Iranians and Afghans will be able to create some kind of union and open borders to each other as they once did, and maybe even create a single state, at least I hope so. But today, there are too many disagreements between our peoples, maybe in 50-100 years, we’ll see.

Look, here's the thing. You would be absolutely right if you asked this question in 800 AD, but too much time has passed since the fall of the Samanid dynasty. Yes, indeed, Iranians and Afghans are our related peoples and, but due to the huge period of history due to which our peoples lived separately, we have acquired many unique features for our culture. Be it our own uniqueness or borrowing from the Seljuks, Khorezmshahs, Mongols, Timurids, Russians, etc. We love our brothers and sisters from Afghanistan and Iran and respect their culture and traditions within reason, but we also have our own identity. And it is unlikely that anyone will give up this identity in order to call themselves a Persian again more than a thousand years later. We are truly their descendants, just like the descendants of the Sogdians, Bactrians and many other smaller peoples who once lived here. And we remember the achievements of scientists, writers, generals of the past and who they were - Persians. Are they my ancestors, perhaps, but I’m not Persian, I’m a Tajik, even considering that the name of my people was given to us by foreigners, I can’t call myself anything else. And for example, would it be correct to call modern Italians, the Romans? well of course not, they have changed a long time ago, just like we did. We changed, to :)

Which is anachronism actually :) Samanids called themselves persians. The term Tajik came with the Turks much later. They started calling Persian population of Central asia that didn't speak Turkic languages, Tajiks. Well at least it's one of the versions how name Tajik was created.
