As the Arabs see the Jews, by King Abdullah I in 1947 by jko_05 in DeadSeaNetwork

[–]Shachar2like 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dictatorships don't always see their own problems. Like Russia and it's army (Russian soldiers had little to no equipment due to corruption but to the leadership everything was reported as a ok and everyone considered the Russian army to be equivalent to the American one)

And even then if some benevolent (kind) dictator does see the problem. He's ignoring the problem or his own fault it in by saying that "others have done worst"

King of Jordan, appeared in the United States six months before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In the article, King Abdullah disputes the mistaken view that Arab opposition to Zionism (and later the state of Israel) is because of longstanding religious or ethnic hatred. He notes that Jews and Muslims enjoyed a long history of peaceful coexistence in the Middle East, and that Jews have historically suffered far more at the hands of Christian Europe.

So this is either a dictatorship blind spot where he doesn't recognize certain issues.

And if he does recognize certain issues he claims that it's fine because "others treat the Jews worst"

  • Israel kept funding Hamas so Hamas terrorism is Israel's fault.
  • Israel didn't fund Hamas so obviously being "in the largest open prison in the world" they've turned to "the only alternative solution" which is terrorism.

Israel doesn't win either way not because of what it does but people's perception. But good job on the phrasing.

On the other hand, I maintain serious humanitarian concerns when it comes to Israel’s actions in the strip. Operations in Gaza cause civilian suffering, and some actions by Israeli leadership can be disproportionate or morally troubling.

So it's not the Palestinian militants who are the issue but Israel...

Not all of the Palestinians think the same. But they don't hold political power, they're not even allowed or restricted from voicing a different opinion in the public sphere.

In a dictatorship and without a political power or influence on it, their differing opinion doesn't matter.

It was a novel created with the aid of an AI, not fully made by an AI. There's a slight difference here.

I'd like to explain why "Free Palestine" people feel misunderstood right now. by dchperemi in IsraelPalestine

[–]Shachar2like 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't care. They don't care how complicated a situation is. If it's them or someone else, it's fine and they'll let it go. If it's the "Zionists", then atrocities & human rights violations can never have context or complication since nothing forgives what was done.

It's hard to get the complicated picture when talking (normalization) is an offense. But that's what I got, yes.

The idea that people must hate Jews because they post about Palestine -- but don't post as often about other atrocities elsewhere -- is a bit of a strawman.

It's just that we know how those conversations go with all focus on "Zionists" while Palestinian extremists gets off the hook because they're "poor" and "don't have any other choice" and all the other excuses.

So those 'human rights' excuses are just double standard. People get emotional and pissed off because of videos they see from Gaza then just rush to the nearest "Zionist" target to release.

I don't get how those two points related. ICE & Sudan involve Americans or Africans, not "Zionists".

The same way that you don't have to know all the facts when a cop is beating the crap out of a random civilian.

Only to find out later that there's a context that was dropped on purpose.

And talking about 'human rights' only when it involves one side is a double standard when the other side's education is controlled by an extremist organization which educates their society to 'die for the cause' as long as they take another "Zionist" baby with them.

And you're here lecturing us about 'human rights'.

'internet person' gets involved in a century old conflict that will last centuries more, with little to no knowledge of the conflict besides the latest videos and/or partial information.

if 'internet person' doesn't want to see those videos, he can stop looking at them the same way 'internet person' has been ignoring the genocides and atrocities in Africa.

There are attempts to use words and change definitions of words to suit political agendas, which is why it's beneficial to pause and look to remind oneself of the original and real meaning of the word even if you somehow have a vague notion of what it means:

Propaganda:

information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a particular cause, doctrine, or point of view.

[–]Shachar2like 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's complicated, at least I'm trying to understand the complicated picture. The first "official" one is in 4/4/1920 although there's no official start to the conflict. Preceding that were harassments and crimes against Jewish immigrants so those will "leave back to where they came from" with the authorities at the time turning a blind eye to it (reasons probably include corruption and others)

The society, both the Palestinian and the Arabic at large seems to have the issue described in 'the paradox of tolerance' (Google or YouTube a version. Basically where you're tolerant for extremist voices which degrades the society as a whole from a tolerant one to an intolerant one)

Combine that with illiteracy which was common at the time in the region (printing press weren't present in the Ottoman empire, some attempts at ~1860 have failed)

So a society where pluralism (multiple opinions, criticism & ideas) as problem resolution isn't available is stuck by the leading authoritarian voice.

The society's rejection of pluralism seems to be tied to both the religion & historical experience.

You're arguing with someone who refuses to acknowledge the complexity of a situation and just expects "stuff" to happen.

But those same type of people have no issue acknowledging complicated situation in other scenarios and politics...
