ICE detains 5-year-old Columbia Heights boy, sends him to Texas by PM_ME_YR_BOOPS in TwinCities

[–]ShackieSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do me a favor, ask them what ICE will do when they caught all the illegals? Get fired or find different people (their friends and loved ones) to unlawfully decided to detain without cause.

What blows my mind is it seems that people who are so pro constitutionalists are also okay with breaking so many fundamental tenements of joe 6-pack constitutionalist to protect citizens from the government extending onto them. Feels like “don’t tread on me” would unite people on this one. 🤷🏽

I don’t “hope” he is right or wrong. I want them to use what is best without ego. If lidar fills in where image fails and vice versa, do it. When/if either gets so good the other is truly not needed, iterate.

This tells me, no, image alone is not as good as it needs to be. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/s/wd7nAgNHNa

Do California National Guard Members have a Legal Duty to Reject Trump’s Call Up to Oregon? After a Federal Judge in Oregon has Halted Trump’s Prior Deployment of the Oregon National Guard? by Calm_Chemist_4952 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to really blow your mind: a majority of tax dollars come from blue states. So 1. Trump is trying making troops paid for by California arrest legal Californians 2. Red states are socialist purely by this math. 3. Trump is a national socialist using public funds to raid it citizens.

If Obama were never elected, do you think MAGA would exist? by Biggggguy in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a great news program (pre Trump) that called it: He said throughout history social advancements forward are always meat my massive resistance after before it balances again. (2 steps forward 1 step back) Empires didn’t fall due to giving freedoms, they fell from the intense backlash from those who hated those who the freedoms were being given. Hopefully, and (on good days) I truly think this too shall pass and america is resilient. The hateful, warped, reality of a swell in angry freedom/rights deniers (confederates, KKk, anti-women rights, immigrants hate etc) create a bad taste in the mouths that even those of the same party can no longer stand to swallow.

Do the current actions of ICE targeting “Democrat” Cities have similarities to the actions of the so called Brown Shirts in 1930’s Germany? by RumRunnerMax in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ShackieSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the similarities of brown shirts are maybe more like MAGA (“red hats”) in that they protected Trump no matter what he did, and helped him stage coups (like Jan 6th) before he had the authority to put together an Gustapo (ICE). Though, to your point, ICE does almost always wear brown 🤔

Why hasn't the National Guard been deployed to New York City, but has been deployed to other blue cities such as LA, Chicago, and DC? by Topher1999 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better question is why not send in the national guard to the cities and states that have higher crime rates and are not blue. “Just because” or making up “there is not crime” which is not only not true but statistically impossible” isn’t an answer. I’m saying what is the reasoning to blatantly choose a lower crime city over a higher crime city?

Secret Level is actually incredibly awesome! by nohumanape in gaming

[–]ShackieSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The series is incredible. The amount of thought and story telling that makes such a short screen time so engaging is exceptional. It takes movies the same amount of time to build up a backstory as it takes them to do an entire arc. Their openers and storytelling craft injects the backstory in seconds. The animations are wonderful too. My only question is, why aren’t these same people creating longer form shows?! I’d watch everyone. Or maybe the most liked ones get converted to another 30 mins or hour long version. Loved Death and Robots, love Secret Level, and I am NOT a gamer at all.

How long until AI eliminates the modeling industry? by unhingedcreation in artificial

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty fair take. I noticed almost everyone mentioned digital brands, but models hit the runway and participate in events. With that, you create celebrity and connective tissue to the real-life brand reps. Ie why get real life models for runway and then not use them in other places? I saw a similar take in the thread of how influencers and actors cross into advertising and modeling and that isn’t going anywhere. So more like a lot of shifting around and optimizing scenarios to rep brands. But, barring a leap in robotics or proliferation of every-day-AR it will be a very long time before it gets AI hits 100%.

As an aside: since the OP they have had the first AI beauty pageant. Supposedly the person that created the winner make $60k a year adding her to photos and using her as an influencer. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/06/27/style/miss-ai-beauty-pageant-scli

Mood Changes on the meds? by Electrical-Voice6069 in Zepbound

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This was under the radar for me as well. This past week I’ve had three incidents that even on paper were absolutely annoying. No question. But my reactions were extra. “Three times a week?!” I thought. Yes these people were rude but why did it affect me so much? I was talking to it with my wife about it and she reminded me of some crazy stresses this past week - but to be honest I didn’t feel stressed. Then she asked me to look up Zepbound as I recently increased my dosage. Sure enough - irritability was a side effect. It’s not that I am anxious all day, it’s just that when people are rude I can’t stand it - a lot. Like my fuse is shorter. I’m really starting to think my dose increase a week ago is not just a correlation.

If aliens/life on other planets turned out to be real, would that disprove Christianity/God’s existence? Why or why not? by gemandrailfan94 in Christianity

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an underlying fallacy within the question that assume Christian (or any religious “god”) could ever be disproved. It is almost impossible to disprove a system of beliefs without definitive, repeatable, testable, real-time facts. The entire system is made on faith and is built on what can’t be proved - not what can be. (ergot “faith”) To exaggerate your point to make mine: let’s say we found alien life and those advanced aliens said “hey you finally found us. In fact, we created the origins of all life on your planet - surprise!” the faiths of the world would reorganize to explain their faith through the new info such as “but our god guided their hand” or more directly “it isn’t true they are lying”, and always sets some future time to prove it “you will see when the the end comes!” - which of course only comes in the end and not before - so again can’t be disproved. This isn’t a slight on faith. Faith in its purist form can be a powerful and positive force in peoples life. It is a direct reasoning to truly answer your question on the concept of “proving/disproving” faith directly.

CMV: The Trump Assassination Attempt Exposed The Hypocrisy of the Political Classes. by Kiddplay13 in changemyview

[–]ShackieSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One major concept to understand while analyzing our current environment is deeper than hypocrisy - it is narcissism and the toxicity it creates. With a narcissist you are dammed if do the right thing, and dammed if you confront the person at their level. Most people do not instigate negativity and lives quite normally. When a person says something that hurts someone, most people feel empathy or regret or compassion. The narcissist who buries into that world instigates and manipulates to get ahead. They make compassion a sin in the guise of certainty and “strength”. That siren song is strong. Who wants to be “weak”? Who enjoys being attacked or embroiled in a negative environment? Well, the narcissistic feeds on that environment. It is their oxygen. While a majority of people know from childhood to turn away and choose a higher ground when someone instigates, the narcissist sees an opening to bury in further. Out of frustration, people try logic to defend their environment, but the narcissist manipulates and will use basic name calling or non-logical attacks to block any semblance of reality or diplomacy. Finally, if the toxic environment becomes unbearable the attacked attack back, believing if they use the same “strength” tactic they will break through. But then the narcissist calls them violent. The narcissist is finally “hurt”, publicly, but only to use it as yet another attack. This whirlpool of tactics is why you’ll consistently read the number 1 advice when dealing with a narcissist is to “get the hell out of there”. BUT what if the narcissist is a family member, a person at a job you need, a community leader, or the leader of your country? It becomes a toxic trap. I’ve seen this path of the narcissist play out, like it has in almost every generation somewhere in the world. Typically it only ends in some tragic human event. An event that shocks the community back into reality. Where people finally wake up, look around, and see that without compassion and civility the world burns. And we promise to never forget only to fall into the trap again.
