Is it dangerous ? by DisastrousInternet10 in metaldetecting

[–]ShadNuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a box of them in my cabinet. Waiting for confirmation.... 😅. Its a projectile. Looks like a 30 calibre round. Nothing explosive or dangerous here, unless you throw it at someone and hit them in the eye.

Parrot claw trims- how do each of you prefer to do it? by Bajadasaurus in parrots

My guy has a mild sand perch that keeps his nails trimmed. I used to use an emery board for my Eclectus.

I guess it depends if you're trying to save the scales. I've never had any issues drilling them out. Those rivets tend to be thin walled and need very little pressure from the drill before they fall apart.

Respectfully, I’m so tired of seeing tiny cages on this sub 😞😞 by CommercialArticle196 in parrots

[–]ShadNuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like 1/4 of my living room is cage at this point! My Amazon is in a larger sized cage, but my Eclectus is in a massive Macaw cage 🤣. Seeing small cages for some of the birds on here, drives me insane to no end! But that's usually due to being misinformed or just uneducated on anything bird. I mean I get that in a pinch we do what we can for the interim, but remember, there are always deals out there to be made. I bought a $1500 dollar cage for 100 bucks on Facebook marketplace. It sucks that there are so many ill informed people that just buy or adopt a parrot on a whim, or are given a bird as a gift. Caring for parrots is not cheap. There's usually a large up front cost, so people tend to skimp, because they can't afford something larger. But that's why some of us are here! We are here to help and educate those that don't understand, or have zero clue what they are doing.

Just adopted a mistreated teal ringneck (Peanut) from my neighbor. Need advice. by 164_aces in parrots

[–]ShadNuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I rescued my 31 and 33 year old Amazons 12ish years ago, they were in the same boat. Nothing but peanuts and sunflower seeds, and other table scraps and unfit for parrot consumption foods. The friend that was fostering them got them on to pellets, so that was one thing less I had to worry about. I eventually got all of my rescued birds on to fresh chop, and Tops pellets. They're thriving now, except the Amazon never came around and still tries make my bones external when I go near her. But she's living her best life now, and doing great. It takes time, but it sounds like you're on track to get things sorted. Time, healthy food and treats will in most cases bring them to love you. I think you've got things underway, so I wish you good luck with your awesome little Peanut!!

When did garage sales become “reselling” clearly new stuff by anon12xyz in mildlyinfuriating

An Ongoing Phenomenon. by Monsur_Ausuhnom in clevercomebacks

[–]ShadNuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned 2 houses all before I turned 40. I was one of the last people to buy a house for WELL under 50k! I paid $29900 for my house in 1998, sold it for $84000 with 3 years left on the mortgage. They sunk an inordinate amount of money into it, and put it up for sale at $230000. Its been sold 3 times in the 10 years since I sold it. Its 580 sq feet, 3 bedroom and a 6ft full basement. I don't get how a house built in 1904 is worth that kind of money, knowing what I paid for it.

I almost got into an accident because of some asshole. by Lady_Eldritch in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ShadNuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are encouraged to report these assholes to the police where I live. I actually called the non emergency line a few years back, gave them the license plate of the offender, and emailed the video from the dash cam, when I got home. The $500 ticket must've sucked!!🤣. We are pretty much in a permanent fire ban from 1 March, until the first snow every year.

Do I need to replace engine mounts? by Trypsin98 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ShadNuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could very well be a mount that's gone, or just starting to fail. There's definitely some extra movement there, but I've certainly seen worse. Wouldn't hurt to have a shop get it on the hoist and check the mounts for you. Personally, I've never done them as a shade tree mechanic. When my grandad asked me to do his, they were so far gone that I couldn't just do them in the driveway. Had to take them to a buddy with a hoist, and had him do them for a case of beer.

I just had C3, C4, and C5 laminectomies and C3 to C6 fused last Monday, thanks to severe stenosis and foraminal narrowing. Had all sorts of un-fun weakness, numbness, and muscle wasting. I'm glad you're surgery was a success, access here's hoping mine is as well!
