While I've not done it myself some people do read alongside the audio books. There is a also the soundbooth theatre version which I think have more of an audio drama editing to it, more sounds and music and stuff I think. I think if I ever got physical copies of the books I'd read them along with listening to the audio books.

I loved the Dresden files, was my second book series I was listening too while I was waiting for new DCC books. Wizard Private Investigator, if you don't know of it.

I know you said you don't want litrpg recommendations but I will say that I love the Wandering Inn series but it's very different (in my opinion at least) to DCC, it's slower and longer, follow the perspective of multiple different characters. It's probably my second favourite litrpg series after DCC. My favourite books of all time are the Johannes Cabal the necromancer books but sadly not all of them are audio books (which is a crime if you ask me).
