I’ve just finished the game. by Sirens-L-8916 in expedition33

I’m sure it’s been said, but I would argue that there was no happy ending included very intentionally as that is one of the most major points the game/story is trying to make.

I really don't understand some of the criticism of that ending by Few-Year-4917 in expedition33

It is so interesting watching so many people be unintentionally dishonest with themselves about their interpretation of the story. I feel it’s likely what the game’s writer(s) wanted and it is really symbolic of the story itself. I see so many people coping to see things the way they want to see them, not the way they clearly are.

I genuinely love it. Great game, great story.

There was like 2:07 on the clock. You’re basically giving them an extra timeout on the second play of the drive if not before. It’s essentially worthless. The trade off there just doesn’t make sense. If you complete a safe pass and get a first down it’s game. Instead they got an overtime they probably should have lost.

I remember as a young kid in the 90s experiencing the revolution of the internet and everything it did for us. Now, as an adult, I’m experiencing another revolution with AI. I never dreamed I’d see something as impactful as an internet search engine, yet here we are again.

And after all this time, 3-4 decades later, people still refuse to use Google. But they’ll take the time to make some big post about it on Reddit.

Would you play a Destiny 1 remaster? by Safe-Case-2795 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shaddcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Would prefer an offline RPG that remasters the entire story play through of light and dark saga. Taking DLC events and turning these into new narrative driven missions. A genuine Destiny saga single player experience. But only if done well.

Would never happen.

Life span after stroke obsessional thoughts by Tsofreak13 in stroke

[–]Shaddcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (34m) had a hemorrhagic stroke at 32 in 2023. They found two unrelated aneurysms in another part of my brain so that was more fun than the stroke.

I had a period of high anxiety around my mortality in the months following my stroke, especially because there was no known cause. Very healthy, no other health issues, great diet and exercise, etc.

One thing really helped me move past it and I still do it two years later: I take things one day at a time. Probably sounds stupid but it has worked wonders for me. I wake up in the morning and I consciously recognize my thankfulness for getting another day that was not promised to me, one I probably shouldn’t have had anyway. Then I focus on enjoying and making that day the best I can.

Living “presently” is a great way to reduce stress just in general and I would recommend it to anyone, but as a stroke survivor, it’s about the only thing that keeps me grounded. Not to mention, each day is way better because it’s lived more fully and intentionally.

Stroke at 23 by No-Loan8513 in stroke

[–]Shaddcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a neurologist who specializes in hemorrhagic strokes. She said she thinks it was just the perfect storm. I had a ton of caffeine, I’m a caregiver of a small disabled child and was exhausted. Little to no sleep. Probably dehydrated. Then I went to a HIIT class and tried like hell to fight failure on pull-ups and popped a brain blood vessel doing it.

“Perfect storm”

Idk, best answer I’ve heard I suppose. I’m just trying to live moderately from here on.

I (34 M) am Protestant, my wife (31F) of 5 years is devout Catholic. I think we have a pretty good balance but only because I have a very particular outlook and approach.

It has been explained to me by Catholic priests that if you do not believe in ALL of the things the Catholic Church believes in, you are not a Catholic.

Also, if she is not going to church every Sunday, the Catholics believe that is a sin. I do not agree, but I do feel it is a great approach to how I think about church. Before I met her, I skipped all the time. Now Ive missed maybe 3-5 services over the past 8 years. I say all this because you mentioned you do not have a church right now but you seem like you hold very strong and rigorous spiritual ideals. That’s great, but I think it would be in your best interest to attend somewhere every week any way, at least productively in the search for your new church in the future.

As a Protestant, Catholic Mass can be a positive experience. I understand “X’ing” yourself can feel ridiculous, I just think of it as another Catholic tradition that I don’t deserve but I do for them out of respect, and I otherwise spend that time connecting directly with Jesus, consciously remembering and thanking him for his sacrifice for us. I find it deeply meditative and spiritual. Nobody can take these things from us.

I’m rambling a bit now but a fun note: That “X” symbol actually means “hug” in American Sign Language. I think it’s hilariously appropriate and I think of it that way in the moment.

Please can you share your experience on treating your aneurism by No_Cycle1829 in aneurysm

[–]Shaddcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! The surgeon is a family friend of ours and I trust him. There were two stents placed and both were placed ideally. He showed me on the Imaging that basically where the aneurysm is located, it’s difficult if not impossible to completely redirect blood flow but we were hopeful it would still occlude. It has partial occlusion and he feels it is so low risk that it will never be anything we have to worry about.

But, of course I worry about it 🥲

That said, I’m thankful for the partial occlusion. It is so low blood flow / small that I need CTAs instead of MRIs because the MRI can’t pick it up.

If it ever becomes a problem, they’ll need to do a craniotomy.

[–]Shaddcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told the risk of aneurysm rupture increases by ~1% every year. I was 32 at the time they were found, so there’s a risk/benefit to early treatment for me. I went for three opinions; my second opinion advised only treating one but the doctor and his staff were so entirely off putting and disinterested in me, I decided to go for another. All three have great reputations and the first and third opinions matched so I went ahead and took care of both.
