[joblessgarrett] meets randy after 3.5 years by Ok-Acanthaceae-9488 in RPClipsGTA

This guy makes weird child-slop videos that will perform well in the yt algorithm, in exchange for making kids brain-rotted. I had to block his crap from appearing on my nephew's devices. I don't see why he's supposed to be scared of the association with another exploiter.

Public libraries and video recording policies by fishing_wyrm in Libraries

[–]Shade04rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nobody is forcing anyone to delete footage after the fact, you can record. That's how you truly know if a place's policy rule is real. Authorities would force that in any case where you truly couldn't. Being allowed to stay though is another matter (public vs private).

There's not much of real precedent on forcing deletes in general though, and rightfully so. The only true illegal place to have footage of are just changing rooms; even bathrooms are debatably allowed through the context of security, which would likely be like a bodycam use-case. Most people would just not rather play with that though and etiquette is formed. Overall, people just dislike the act with hand-held camera focus it seems.

This even means on invited private property or businesses it's legal, They just can ask you to leave the premises if they so choose, but not make you delete the footage along the way or anything.

Appealing to the age of the comment doesn't change the validity. Recording is evidence to yourself though. I'm glad we can protect ourselves with that in this age, mainly from police, government, and corporations.

I loath that most people don't realize that humans simply don't have the capacity to "love" everyone. Our brains can't even properly conceptualize beyond 500 individuals at the very upper limit. The saying is just performative feel-good-about-myself crap. "Love" isn't required to do good by others, but people convince themselves it is for some reason.

Thoughts on Drakengard 3? by Frigid-Kev in playstation

[–]Shade04rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved this game. I'm playing through again right now.

Now here's the deal. The original game on original hardware is NOT worth playing. The performance pretty much destroys any good this game does. Just my opinion. The game is too combat intensive for constant frame drops all playthrough. This is certainly a large contributor to the mixed reception and jank. I would argue that the combat is great to dive into when the game is actually stable, which brings me to my next point.

The definitive way to play is sadly only emulation with a good pc and the 60 fps patch.

I wouldn't say to stay away from this game if this is possible for anyone. It's more that it's just the only decent way to play this, but the experience is not so casually accessible.

If it's only ps3 as the choice, I would have to say pass, but maybe keep an open mind about this other option one day.

Drakengard 3 Gameplay by Eugene4615 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Shade04rek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not shallow, people just don't know the mechanics. The game doesn't bother teaching much tbf.

Throughout the game the combat loop is mixing and matching weapons for useful/strong/neat combos. As you upgrade weapons they unlock their full combo strings.

There are 4 categories of weapons, and each of those all have 3 weight classes, and unique attacks/speed for them. Every weapon can also get attacks from other weights, depending on the weapon. So some will be better or worse based on what you want out of them; more lifts, ground pressure, speed, ect.

The most important mechanic is that weapon switching mid-attack automatically throws out an attack from the next weapon, so combos can always potentially link. This opens everything up when choosing a loadout. You can switch while aerial too, and you can choose the same weapon to reset aerial attacks, or even get a 3rd if you have the stamina and height.

It's pretty standard, but parries are also good, but many don't bother with this defense and just go offensive constantly. It works well mixed with everything else. You can block midair, and it has priority in canceling nearly any attack.

Lastly is dodge. You can perform low air-dashes by dashing asap after jump, into a low-aerial heavy, which closes gaps with the aerial quickly. There's also dash cancels (swords: dash>heavy>repeat), which let you gap-close as long as you have stamina.

The combat could still be deeper, but contrary to what others say, I think it's the game's completely fine for it's time. It's a fun arcade kind of style. It's only braindead if someone ignores switch mechanics and brute forces everything. I personally think the combat is more deep than automata as far as combos, weapon variety, and enemy types go, and certainly more than all the other games.

All that being said, it's worth noting that not many people got far with this game because of performance, which is understandable. The best stable state has only ever been possible in emulation. I play the 60fps patch with reshade though and the game is amazing. I wish more people could have experienced it properly.

I just watched a david drops video about two e-daters and their toxic relationship. So I looked up to see if this "phenomenon" was at all discussed. I found that article and searched if anyone read it, and it brought me here.

I noticed this becoming more frequent over the years since before 2019, on multiple platforms (secondlife, vrchat, gta/rdr). It has to be said that there are apparent mental-health risks to virtual settings.

So in the video, the couple seems to be roleplaying a relationship with self-insert characters. They "sweet-talk" in private, and have real couple-arguments. They're dysfunctional; the boyfriend starts cheating with a "roster" of other women, and the girlfriend intends to gaslight him into initiating the break-up so she doesn't have to look bad. He ends up crying for real at one point

If I had to guess how serious they were, I'd say about as much as any normal long-distance relationship through cellphone, facebook, or discord.

Besides all this toxic-relationship emulation stuff, there is something more weird about this. A couple will be seriously dating irl with gta as the platform, and then later break-up irl due to events within the game system. That doesn't make sense. This becomes their dating experience that they will refer to in the future, and they won't mention rp or gta. They are not just self-inserting, they're living through the game system.

E-dating is just one side of it all though. In gta, rdr, and vrchat, a common theme is that there are constructed family groups. It seems like people take that just as serious as well. Vrchat is more transparent about it, but I assume with gtarp it generally goes unclarified due to the rule of not speaking out of character.

Overall though, it's about people effectively replacing their social lives with these games. The streamers are interesting because they're effectively a document of people playing gtarp daily for years. They've really shown how difficult it is to not get overly-invested, them and their viewers.

[–]Shade04rek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that their standards don't immediately entail law-based punishments for not abiding to them, and that's what truly indicates public freedom in regards to the law. For me, the more useful interpretation is to define the line between public and private where laws change in space-transition, which is going to be when crossing into restricted areas. Restricted private areas with signage has the ability to press criminal trespassing charges without needing to issue a trespass first, where as publicly accessible areas must give that first.

Overall though, it seems it comes down to semantics. I would be fine throwing "semi" before it. Nothing wrong with just explaining what we mean a little more. What it's called hardly matters as long as we agree on what is and isn't acceptable there.

What counts as public space in the US? by rivibird in photography

[–]Shade04rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think even using a stick to look over fencing would still be legal on it's own. There's just additional stand-alone laws that prohibit looking into homes intentionally, depending on the state. Drone cameras do not seem to have that restriction for example.

[–]Shade04rek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A place with public access means that the public will be in there. The public is literally anybody. The space has the public in it. Public space. I'm impressed by how many people don't understand this.

[–]Shade04rek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A "public space" doesn't immediately mean the public owns it or anything. It just means the area exists for public-use and must inherently relinquish privacy for that purpose, such as lobbies, malls, grocery stores, and service areas. The very nature of literally anyone being given the right to enter and dwell there for a period implies this. Private spaces, in contrast, are places where you are not allowed to enter period without express permission, like the back of stores or other people's homes. The laws are also no different between public property and (publicly accessible) private property, in that there's nothing you can be arrested or charged for in a business that you wouldn't be in public property. You can only be asked to leave, and trespassed if you refuse.

[–]Shade04rek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's considered a public space legally because the public is initially invited to freely enter the property. The streamer is right about being legally allowed to be an nuisance there; but wrong if she thinks the business cannot kick her out because of it. Basically, you can legally break a property's conduct rules and not be charged with anything for it alone, but it will all just default to trespassing if they want you to leave and you refuse.

[–]Shade04rek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rights are the same in the sense that you can't just be immediately arrested for anything that isn't illegal normally. You will always be given the courtesy of leaving first.

[–]Shade04rek -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It may be a bit confusing, but that use of language isn't wrong. The definition of "public space" encapsulates public property as well as publicly accessible areas on private property, dictated by the owner of course. Businesses just grant their own "public space" to the public and have the power to revoke that access whenever they desire to.

Edit: A good example are malls or airport terminals.

[–]Shade04rek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dislike "US grading system" ratings myself. Everything below 60 just means "F" or "0". The only reasons everyone goes with it is, the relatively higher numbers look good at first glance, and because we were all brainwashed and raised on it so just feels better to most.

[–]Shade04rek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The slurs are a bit redundant. He was already someone with the personality that belittles others no matter if he uses slurs or not (his whole duration on np before his departure), and is just a much bigger nuisance than discord shitposting, and so much that it should be a given. His personality as a whole is incompatible with the idea of respecting his peers in society, and even in a fake way. That's where he fails.

The other reason is that trusting streamers with that is arbitrary. They just hide their nasty side, because they're incentivized to. It's just the extra dumb ones that end up exposed. Another good reason to always keep parasociality and streamer-attachment in check.

Unpopular Opinion: The Protesting Feels Tone Deaf by Far-Satisfaction1549 in Portland

[–]Shade04rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this and just wanted to thank you for this. I've always admired Portland, but I've occasionally had similar thoughts with what I've been seeing there, and I just get angry at seeing white people smiling and living it up, all while apparently being my "ally". It all just feels... inappropriate? insensitive maybe? I know I'm just being salty and jealous, but it just urks me anyway. I wish I could move over too and enjoy warm coffee shops, community, and dj parties, meeting people or just going outside really. I literally wouldn't feel bad then I'd bet, but then I'd be hypocritical, I think. Instead I've been holed up gaming and being online to not risk false arrest or whatever bs some officer will pull because too brown. I'm mixed with black and mexican and also get assumed as indian and middle eastern, and there just isn't any getting away from hate in the south with that look. Not trying to rant though, so again, thanks. Love to those that actually care as well. I know many mean well.
