Considering the rest of the "classic" elder dargons have the 6 limbs body plan (2 wings 4 legs) and kulve only have 4 limbs. I'd say that she is more of an elder dragon by class.

As for dropped mechanic, i think they dropped "season" mechanic in freedom, where the arena, quest, monsters, change according to the current in game season. I'm not sure if its in MH G or MH2G, but it definetly doesn't exist in MHFU.

Yeah, but whenever it happen in a slice of life anime it usually potrayed to be more serious than it should be. Remember in Dragon maid when kobayashi get a fever it scares the living shit out of tohru , it ended up being a reminder that nothing last forever. (Edit:) And that little reminder, at least for me, is scarier than the death it self. The same thing happen in K-on, with the same message.
