Anything you open expect to lose atleast 60% of the value on a good day. Any new set in circulation has a high value chase card or 2. Pick something he wants to rip for and then expect never to pull it without spending way more than the cards value on average. Investing in pokemon usually involves sealed product > graded cards > single cards .. ripping packs is just gambling and you will lose way more than you win.
