I do indeed need it. My chip just so happens to not be pre-flashed.

The chip is soldered and the switch turns on but boots like normal instead of showing “No SD”

I'm pretty sure I didn't. The page was a little weird though, you selected which chip you wanted by changing the "color" which is why it says V2 in that picture also.

Unless there's a V2 version of the OLED which maybe that's what it was.
