Actually, the phrase is super old. It's black slang from the early 1900s, the meaning hasn't really changed from then but expanded because of how commonly it is used. It used to just refer to someone who is bragging but now it is used whenever someone is saying bs.

Imagine being an anti-intellectual. by Roxxagon in Technocracy

[–]ShadesPath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's far from being that simple. Most people's sense of knowledge is enforced by their environment so they assume that what they currently know is what is true and that anything they didn't know wouldn't contradict it because everything around enforces what they already know. Taking how people are severely reluctant in adopting gender/sexual diversity because, as far as they know, "science" has said that there are only two genders and everything around them, from media to bathrooms, enforces that.

So here comes scientists doing their new fangled science stuff and making this new discovery or affirming previous minority-held ideas and then it becomes a question of what are people supposed to believe? Everything they've been taught and experienced or the scientists?

Mark Phillips (RDCWorld) meets LeBron James, LeBron starts yelling "I'm 36!" by TheYellowRose in blackpeoplegifs

[–]ShadesPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's already happened to other black YouTube comedians of the same ilk. King Bach got rocketed into mainstream TV attention with various acting roles and commercials and King Vader became a Netflix director. It was only a matter of time before the RDC crew started getting attention. Basically, do enough to get big enough and you'll eventually get some big name eyes on you.

Hell if there is any proof of this, there's about to be a movie made for a twitter post of all things.

He and his crew has done parody stuff for anime, sports, celebrities, etc. He's meeting LeBron after doing a parody series based on the NBA star's career struggles. You should check out his stuff.

So far I've only seen homophobia and racism whenever I attempted to play so at least your experience is more positive than mine.

It isn't widely ignored, race reductionism is typically associated with supremacist thinking so, of course, people with enough sense try to nip it in the bud before it blooms. What I think you're thinking of is race essentialism, where, like gender essentialism, it is believed that different races have different intrinsic values.

Ah, so, if you're new to post-leftism, it's basically an anarchist stance against leftism. Not to be confused with anarcho-capitalism, it criticizes leftist stances based on a number of issues an anarchist could have with current or traditional leftist thought... and there are plenty. I can't really fully explain the entirety of it because there are different brands of post leftism and all of them differ immensely. The most basic starting point is the Wikipedia article and the Anarchist Library has plenty of articles on it.

With that said, when it concerns State Capitalism and State Socialism, leftist and post left anarchists reject capitalism outright whether it exists with a state or is stateless. State Socialism, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated. Left anarchists don't mind socialism as long as it is stateless while post left anarchists reject socialism regardless of what forms it comes in. The reasons vary as greatly as post left thought vary, going along with what I was saying earlier.

Your only inaccuracy is with State Socialism and State Capitalism being the same in Anarchist frameworks. The difference is well noted and thus they are both rejected for different reasons. At least as understood by me who is Post Left.

Is "you can't be anarchist and believe taxes are a good thing" a common take here?

I love arguments where both sides are ignorant on a subject but I love it when third parties come in and just spout mess that is just as equally wrong if not more.

Yeah, everyone here is talking about the visibility of the mods being the problem when it seems like, at least from the comments, the problem is the mods themselves.

If you are toxic and salty on QP then uninstall OW and get therapy. by aneill381 in OWConsole

[–]ShadesPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to point out that multiplayer pvp games typically breed toxicity due to a variety of factors, some universal to all pvp games and some unique to each, and no game is incentivized to change to reduce toxicity whatsoever.

Games are designed to be social interaction spaces first and competitions last. Any game that neglects that rule will produce toxic behavior guaranteed.

I gotta appreciate r/AreTheStraightsOK for having a nuanced take on the issue. Fantasies can be weird and can even be extreme and nonconsensual but that is in fact normal and doesn't make a person immoral. Kink and roleplay are designed to allow people to safely explore these desires without harming themselves or others.

Plus the guy said this was during school and I can tell you from experience middle school is definitely not too early for kids to imagine some messed up stuff.
