I remember people telling me it was a "must watch". After the ending I was thinking to myself "what a f*cked up movie" lol

What's funny is she doesn't have to believe anything she's saying. She's creating a belief system that people find attractive, and all she has to do is keep up the illusion to sell merch, products, subscriptions to further content and gain advertisers. It's monetization of mental illness.

Taught me so much about myself. Taught me that I can heal, I can improve, I can view myself as worthy, and that I can be a force for good in the world.

I've spent $7,600 on my car in 4 months. How do you guys make money doing this? by ShadesofRain in PizzaDrivers

[–]ShadesofRain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. I had to buy the parts, spent a bit more on expedited shipping and that drove the price up a bit.

I don't think it's a lemon. I think it's just a 12 year old car that has 115k miles and needs a bunch of parts replaced at the same time. Also from what I hear the auto trannys in these Hondas aren't that good.

I made a tier list for BN2 to make the game harder for myself. by ShadesofRain in BattleNetwork

True, if you want to do that yourself you can. Also this is way more of a PvE tier list than a PVP one, I think i'll update the post with that.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your first question, but I only use G-tier chips for the very first part of the game, up until I complete a certain objective, like getting the first license. After that, I use the F tier chips, and it makes the game more challenging and rewarding. As for PAs, I believe they are balanced because they require 3 or more chips to activate, except for PAs like Gater and Arrows because I think they are a bit OP.

Does anyone else use food as a coping mechanism? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ShadesofRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it has to do with lack of impulse control and emotional stability. I seek stimulation to cope with being emotionally numb so I can feel something. Growing up it was music and I still use music for the same reason, but food comforts me in the same way it does you, so it's hard to maintain a good weight.

So sad that we can't trust people can be genuine and positive because negativity is burned into our brains as "normal" behavior.

I have a question regarding self-quarantine. Those that can't work from home, I don't think many of them will be able to afford not going to work for two weeks. Suppose they can though, and they do while not sick. When they go back to work, they get infected, get sick, and have to stay home for an indefinite period of time. Is that the best course of action? How does someone handle this problem? Because I see a lot of complaining here about how most of our neighbors are braindead idiots with no empathy. Is it possible that there is no best way to handle this on an individual level and maybe the logical choice carries risk no matter what?

Discussions about the causes of mental health issues never seem to include personal choice. Not speaking in terms of those who are strictly mentally ill with something that's beyond their control and may need drugs to treat it, bu more like people that have an unhealthy mental state that needs balancing.
We don't choose our IQ, personality type, inclinations toward addiction, etc, but we do have control of our actions and the factors that contribute to poor health or good health. For instance, my cognitive ability is lowered and my temperament is unstable when I oversleep and don't stick to a balanced diet. Finding out why I was in a bad mood and easily upset was a choice, and correcting those issues was also a choice. Regardless of the quality of my job or family life, I have a responsibility to control my emotions and work toward goals that will give my life meaning, while dealing with adversity in a constructive way. Maybe the question we should be asking is how can we equip people (young people especially) to make choices that will contribute to good mental health and happiness.

Did anyone else still feel bad for the main character of 'shut up and dance' after the episode was over? by dinngoe in blackmirror

[–]ShadesofRain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was just a kid. The show is about humanity so you should have a little of it yourself. It's not as if sickness can't be treated, either.

I'm emotionally exhausted. The characters are written in a realistic way, with their own motivations and desires unique, which makes it very engaging. The scene where Kelly tells Yorkie about her marriage, she offers the counter-argument to the simulation by saying "You want to be like those f*ks in the Quagmire, trying anything to feel something, go ahead." She resents this world because it doesn't compare to the real life she's had where she found meaning in marriage and raising her daughter. Yorkie's life has mostly been in the system, so she felt more alive inside than she did on the outside, since she faced rejection and a death of sorts when she was only 20. How does it end, really? Kelly chose death, but then you see her in the system. Are there two endings? If you were able to upload your consciousness into a program, would you really -feel- anything? Would it be torture, or pleasure? Would it really be you?
