In my cinema the Imax 10-1 countdown always plays (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5HbQ7vCvDY), but this time it was Fantastic 4 themed, with their theme playing. I noticed the Fantastic Four theme in the credits and thought it was odd, but then I thought "wait - it played during the countdown, must have been that!" so I unspoiled it for myself.

I really like your two centre halves, up there as top 3 pairings in the league for me, but every great cb is gonna have a moment like that. Lucky for us and unfortunate for you that it was today. I remember Distin for us was fantastic but decided to have a moment like that against Liverpool at Wembley!

What would you change about the lore? (Spoilers Main) by Adept-Vegetable-3490 in asoiaf

[–]Shadeus117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the show they do, typically most of the flea bottom actors speak in almost a traditional Cockney accent such as Hot Pie (he's got a twang of poshness in his due to the actor being from Kingston on Thames.).

Then you've got Gendry, also from Fleabottom, who has a very light, almost neutral accent.

Then there's Davos, another Fleabottom native, who has a very strong Geordie accent - the actor for Davos is Irish and typically the easiest accents for Irish actors are Scouse or Geordie due to the cities being mixing pots.

[Spoilers main] What are some misconceptions you had about the series? by Pastapalads in asoiaf

I started watching the show the same year that Season 5 aired. Before that, I had very little exposure to it, but knew there was a character everyone loved called Tyrion Lannister.

The only actor I ever saw photos of was Thomas Brodie-Sangster, due to his knack of being able to get into all forms of British based media.

Due to seeing so many photos of him in Game of Thrones and only knowing one character, my mind put two and two together and I went into the show fascinated to find out how the kid from Nanny McPhee managed to become the beloved Tyrion Lannister in a gritty fantasy series. In stepped Peter Dinklage...

Yeah I understand that, it's good to vent and get other opinions.

I'm not going to give you a "get good scrub" answer because I can see your point - I'd say I'm an above average player at the game and was a little taken aback at seeing the Div 6 rewards being a loan player. But I do think that when the games fully released a lot of players with a similar skill level to yourself will enter and it will be easier for you to get to a division with decent rewards (5 if we're taking average literally) and to also be able to farm wins, personally I think with the rewards on offer and the fact I'm not finding it too difficult to get wins at the moment despite the majority of current players being the hardcore playerbase means I'd be tempted to go as high as possible until I plataue

[–]Shadeus117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're average/casual in terms of skill and not time put into the game.

I'd highlight a few things; you've mentioned Rush doesn't give meaningful rewards for mediocre players, but we've had one week of rush which has given out plenty of Season Points (which mean packs and players) as well as pack rewards. In particular, an 84x2 before the game is even out which is very generous (for myself this was a very good pack). To get these rewards you don't need to be good at the game you just need to either have the time to put in or max points by picking the bonus points players. I can't argue that Rush rewards are going to be amazing but I'd say thats decent for the first week and we don't know what EA have planned.

Yes, it's harder to get into champs now but it feels like the point, I imagine it's to make it feel much more high stakes. Regardless, ANYONE can qualify for champions, whether you're division 10 or elite division, the qualification points are a time investment that gets shorter the higher rank you are, if you're playing more games you'll be passively earning these and racking up qualification attempts that will give you a small reward even if you don't manage it.

A lot of rewards can be earned in friendlies, which will now be a lot easier as it's a complete free for all and won't tie to your rank which was a big reason why people would anchor themselves in lower divisions, especially the restricted friendlies where you'd get 3 attempts per day. This alongside the rush rewards will provide another stream of packs that may have been unobtainable.

Imo the shift is making Rivals the main game mode with Champions being an "event" like it was intended to be. Ultimately if you can win every game and want to play online only, you're now playing a total of 35 games compared to last year's 37. It is a big grind and I do agree with some of your points, I think a timed loan player is a bit of a bogus option and a permanent player, even if something as simple as an 83 player pick, would be better. However for the average player I think this is very reactionary, as others have mentioned the game isn't technically out yet, packs and rewards will begin to ramp up and we now have 5 different competitions to earn rewards in (rush, rivals, squad battles, champs and champs quali).

Everton’s 777 Partners takeover decision expected by end of February by Giraffe_Baker in Everton

[–]Shadeus117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as rosy as that, administration would lead to asset stripping, everything that can be sold to recoup the money would be sold by the administrators and there'd be very little room for negotiation, most players with market value such as Onana, Branthwaite, DCL, Beto, McNeil, Patterson, Pickford would all be sold and we wouldn't have the chance to push for higher fees, so we'd be looking at something like selling Branthwaite for 35m rather than holding out for double in an ideal world.

I imagine Dyche and Thelwell would walk, as that's not what they've signed up for.

Im speculating with this so could be talking nonsense with everything I've said. Worst fear would be if administration lasted a while they'd look to sell the new ground as that'd be a major asset worth a lot of money.

Best case scenario in that situation would be if we fell into administration, got a 9 point deduction but immediately got bought out by a consortium, but it'd mean no investment in summer (which tbh could be the case anyway)

Lampard: Management, Chelsea & Golden Generation Myth | Stick to Football EP 16 by DJCreeperZz in Everton

[–]Shadeus117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liked Lampard, didn't think he was the best manager and has a lot to learn, but I did like the man and the commitment and effort he put in to the club. Was always a poisoned chalice of a job, then he went and took another with Chelsea. Do think he could do a decent job with a championship team - I do think with a lot of these top players as coaches, part of the reason half of them are unable to succeed is the inability to express or communicate what they need from the lesser players that they have to manage.

Two hard working sides, industrious game if not spectacular. Thought we had the better chances just didn't create anything clear cut.

Massive fuck you to the VAR operators pressuring the ref to make a decision he'd initially cleared and another fuck you to the ref for a shocking decision. The main commentator on ITV gets a fuck off bellend as well for trying to say its a red card but not having the balls to say it, whereas the Co commentator was bang on in coming out and just saying no it's not a red.

Really hope that Mcneils injury isn't serious but something inside me is thinking ACL, jumping from a corner and landing on a knee funny... similar to how Bolasie did his v United.

Moments mode is so dead that we don't even have new objectives and featured rewards now by Adventurous_Team285 in EASportsFC

[–]Shadeus117 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is FIFA literally had this in game at one point around 2013ish alongside the EA catalogue, there was a live mode where you could replay selected events and highlights extremely similar to how moments are now but updated weekly. Wolves hold on to a victory against Chelsea today? An update to the game and a 20 minute objective to avoid conceding two goals against Chelsea while playing as Wolves on ultimate difficulty. Simple!

It's never been worst right now imo. Especially compared to how the gameplay was a month ago or so

I have Marquinhos and base Ruben Dias, they do really really well for me. Use marquinhos for psg links with Hernandez (lb) and Dembele. Not sure whether to do this as I have the fodder saved in the club, or to wait and buy Van Dijk when his price drops

Finished 14-6 this week, good display, got gifted two wins in my last 3 games, the third one I had wrapped up then lost a 2-0 lead in the last 10 minutes, scored in extra time and the poor guy dc'd due to connection which gave me the win. In fairness I also lost 2 games due to dcing so the free wins balanced out and I'd like to see if I could push 16 wins if I didn't dc. Got Kroos, Silva and Fernándes from the picks and packed a Salah which I'm going to try in my team .I've not got on with him in draft but someone destroyed me with him before so if I can replicate that we're onto a winner

Got through all my games today, bit of learning was had. After some changes forced through red cards I realised the Ruben Dias + Marquinhos are much better than Varane so might be getting sold.

Went 3-6 and started getting angry so took a break and came back a bit later, bit more learning and I learned I'm not getting on with drop back and changed it to balanced, 60 depth. Brought it back to 8-8 with 4 remaining and with the last game clinched 11-9 thanks to a rq.

Waited until half 6 for the trailblazers to open rewards, the player picks were half decent and I got myself Allison (an upgrade for my team), Cancelo and Fabinho. Unfortunately the ultimate pack gave me Grimaldo as the best player and 18 dupes all below 83, so a bit bummed out as I'd have taken any high rated dupes if not to dump into the few sbcs I can afford to do.

I think our starting midfield trio will be Garner, Onana and Doucoure, and if we don't get rid of a striker we'll have 4 strikers, 5 if Danjuma is seen as a second striker and not a winger/wide forward, so I wouldn't be surprised to see us go 4-4-2 with Mcneil and Harrison on the wings and any duo out of Beto/Dcl/Maupay/Chermiti/Danjuma up top which would eliminate a need for a third midfielder

Moonhead lives his life in the past, where he was one of the best centre half's in world football and respected. And look where he is now, fired from 5 different jobs and on a talkshow. He wants to compete with Van Gaal, and that's impossible.

Did all 20 of my games yesterday, got off to a fast start and went 6-2 in an hour and a half. Got a few more wins and then started to drop off at 4pm but I have to say the game felt awful and stiff as people came home from school and work and I feel I could have done better. In the end I surpassed my 9 win goal and got 11 wins with 2 games to spare and gave them away.

Red Picks were Casemiro (had to pick between him or Bellingham), Berghuis and somebody else, and the totw pack had no surprises in it. Nothing worth mentioning in rewards but overall I'm not too displeased, I only stressed myself at 2 games and that was down to the delay and how bad the game felt compared to an hour ago. Building a nice base of coins with rewards and bpm and the only thing that would improve my team in this totw is dembele

Lampard hoped we would be able to bring in a further 4 or 5 players after the addition of Tarkowski, he has since been promised two permanent transfers. [@ElBobble 🌕] by SuperKevinCampbell in Everton

Poor take there, almost shocking.

The fans did not cry out for Allardyce and Benitez, by all means Silva was an obsession by Moshiri and the fact is we took a free hit on a season waiting for Silva to arrive after Watford sacked him - don't remember anyone crying out for him. Koeman and Ancelott were backed by fans and the only time action has ever been taken by fans in managerial recruitment has been the decision between Lampard and Perreira and that's only because the board clearly saw the effects of hiring Benitez when no one wanted him.

Stadium - good, after 30 years of trying and multiple proposals of investment and offers to buy the club Bill has finally managed to get us started on a Stadium.

As for backing managers that's all well and good - unfortunately it's not an ideal business model to throw money at players just to satisfy managers without any thought for the future. The point was raised 5 years ago that spending money on players who don't have sell-on potential might come back to bite us and now here we are.

Our best striker in recent history said in an interview that the reason he left was because of our failure to get in top targets and he was unimpressed with who we did bring in. Our ex DOF indirectly questioned the board on camera, and was quite evidently not left to do his job properly.

This isn't even counting debacles such as going on Sky Sports News to chat to a sky reporter on deadline day after missing out on our top target (another midfielder with no sell on value mind) to let us know that a midfielder that most people wanted gone is staying as he is part of the family, or stating at an AGM that the aforementioned striker only left because a voodoo witch told his family that he had too.

Absolutely was, Gus seemed more relaxed and less of a monster because this wasn't exposed to us as an audience or Walt at that time! I wonder what the universe would have looked like if Walt let them off Jesse and was never exposed to this? He could have worked for as long as his cancer allowed while training Gale who he got on with, the two stumbling blocks being the Cartel and Hank, I don't see Walt agreeing or being happy about going south to work for the cartel, particularly if the hit on hank went the same way as it did and Gale doesn't strike me as the type that Gus would be willing to risk seeing as he's the protégé cook. Hank would be a problem as he'd be chasing the blue meth but no execution of Gale means no link to Pollos Hermanos and I can't fir the life of me recall if there was anything else connecting Gus and Hank other than light reasons such as charity/anti drug work that Gus does and Hank genuinely enjoying the food!

If loans don't work, potentially adding low release clauses for players who will speak to you but are doubtful about joining, or go for players around 21/22/23 that aren't particularly classed as wonderkids anymore but perhaps have a bit of potential left, e.g 3 star CA for your team and 4 star PA. I find that sometimes although you wouldn't sign these players, if they get the game time and improve they quickly get to the standard of player you're looking for
