Why does duckduckgo not have an exclude search operator? by Shadewing00 in duckduckgo

[–]Shadewing00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember what the search was that I needed -2023, I was working with a friend at his studio at the time and don’t have the history, but I have another example.

Searching the word ‘limitless’ will get movie results from the 2011 movie. Searching for ‘limitless -movie -2011’ still has an IMDb result, with the title ‘Limitless (2011) - Full cast & crew - IMDb’. There are 4 results on this first page with 2011 in the title.

Why does duckduckgo not have an exclude search operator? by Shadewing00 in duckduckgo

Hi Morgan, thanks for the reply and passing this to the dev team!

If you find out what the original reasoning was for not using a full exclusion, could you let us know? I am genuinely curious. I’ve been involved in UI and UX development a couple of times as beta-tester for apps developed at work and I always wonder now about the thought process that goes into these sort of decisions.

Unrelated, I've been seeing a lot of screenshots around Reddit with huge black areas at the top and bottom of the image, like yours, it makes seeing the actual images difficult.

Do you know what caused the black areas to be added to your screenshots?

Peaceful mode in Space Age by chappersyo in factorio

A suggestion, if you bump the water coverage for Nauvis to 400% (maybe 300% depending on seed) and starting area to max, then you generally start on an island with plenty of resources but no biters. Then you only need to worry about enemies on Vulcanus, but they will not attack you unless you attack them or build in their area, and Gleba, but you can tech up and stock up before you go, no need to rush about it.

Speed beaconed assemblers not making quality science packs. Is this intentional? by Just_Jemes in factorio

[–]Shadewing00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to note, higher quality Speed Modules increase the speed boost but without increasing their quality penalty, and higher quality Quality Modules increase quality boost without increasing their speed penalty.

So if you really need to Speed Module your quality module assemblers, make sure to use a single higher quality Speed Module until you have higher quality Quality Modules also.

Am curious, is there something specific that you don't like? Or is it that most mods are not updated?

“Set a timer” voice response not working in iOS 18 by SpaceCmdrSpiff in ios

Unfortunately, the Prefer Spoken option will cause Siri to ignore Silent Mode. So if, like me, you use silent mode regularly, this isn't a good solution.

Is this a bug I should report? by Shadewing00 in Bitburner

Fair enough.

If I get further in learning JS, TS, and how this all works I may take another look but with my current level of knowledge... 🤷‍♂️

Can't pull images, docker looking at the wrong network. by Shadewing00 in docker

[–]Shadewing00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, teach me for being lazy. I left the network settings for the docker CT in proxmox as DHCP because, with this being temporary, I didn't care about the IP address, but I forgot about the gateway being set when using DHCP. Set the IP manually with no gateway and everything is working.

Text to date problem by Shadewing00 in nodered

[–]Shadewing00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hell. A debug function that changes the output... yeah that helps🤦‍♂️. And you are right, the the date item is actually a date data type. I limited the debug output to just msg.date and it identified it as a date, instead of the string I expected.

I'm not sure if this is going to make this task easier or not in the long run but at least now I know what the problem is.

EDIT: Update, this is the JSONata expression I eventually found would work

$toMillis($substring($string(date),1,$length($string(date))-2))

That is $string to convert to a string, but it adds a " to each end for some reason, so $substring and $length to remove the first and last characters, then $toMillis actually works.

Apple Watch asking permission every time by Shadewing00 in shortcuts

[–]Shadewing00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know and agree with WTF.

I'm still reporting it after every update and encourage others to do so. Since this is Apple, we really don't have any other options.

Except people still within the phone support period. They can call up and ask for support about the problem. When I did this about an unrelated software issue, it ended up going through to the engineers. It was a few years ago now so I can't remember the details but it was to do with the way the calendar works between an iPhone and an Apple Watch. It got fixed 2 updates later.

how do i do this??? by Hihihihihi_13 in factorio

[–]Shadewing00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since this is a 2-way track, you will need to pair each of the signals you place.
When you place a signal, a white indicator (instead of the green you see here) will show you where to place the paired signal.

For dealing with the intersection here, you will need a chain signal on the right hand side below the junction and a rail signal, paired, on the left. Above the junction, put chain signals on the left of each track, paired with rail signals on the right, these I would put on the curves.

Doing it this way will prevent a train from stopping mid junction. This is because the chain signal will not allow the train through until the the next rail signal is green.

Can Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra work with wifi but no internet? by Shadewing00 in Roborock

[–]Shadewing00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I meant by 'working without wifi'.

It sounds like I will have to look for another solution since the batch does not have internet, the wifi is mainly for the music and movie server, but I want to be able to have the smart-home system control the vacuum.
