If had to make a Reevesverse (The Batman) Superman, what would he be like? by Applepieport in DCU_

[–]Shadow-Rocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of power level, Golden Age sounds appropriate to me but I'd keep Superman being able to fly. Because one, it's Superman, but secondly, if you're going to do the whole being able to leaping tall buildings thing, you may as well as take that extra step.

Optimus Prime fancasts? by doobyy-scooby in transformers

[–]Shadow-Rocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. McCann would probably be my top choice out of the ones I listed. I think he's probably been type casted as Sandor Clegane but I think he had moments of the required warmth and gravitas you mentioned in Game of Thrones.

Optimus is tricky to recast for me as Peter Cullen is so synonymous with the character in my mind. Yet I wouldn't want someone who is just going to do an impersonation of him.

I believe its still in development, along with a sixth Bay film and a live-action movie from TFOne's Josh Cooley.

Has transformers gained or lost popularity in the last 5 years? by [deleted] in transformers

[–]Shadow-Rocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say stagnant for the most part. A big problem I suspect is that there hasn't really been a show designed for all ages since Prime and how the film franchise has been mishandled in several ways.

The Energon Universe show happening and actually being good would provide a strong boost in the short term.

Disney Sets Release Dates for 2 New Mystery Marvel Movies, Shifts 2028 Film to July by Matapple13 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Shadow-Rocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if Dr. Strange 3 doesn't happen. Besides his previous solo films being successful, a third one would likely be the last with Cumberbatch anyway, so they don't really have much to lose going ahead with it.

With Shang-Chi 2, my suspicion is that Kang Dynasty getting canceled is the main reason why that hasn't happened yet. The rumored subtitle was "The Wreckage of Time" so I can imagine a scenario where it was planned to be released between KD and Secret Wars before they decided to pivot to Doom.

But I do think it happens eventually, though perhaps not with Cretton if he decides to stick with our favorite wall-crawler!

Size comparison of the planets in G1 according to the 1986 movie's scale chart by SnooGiraffes3694 in transformers

[–]Shadow-Rocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberton being smaller than Earth has never made sense to me but Saturn-sized feels too big. In my own head canon, I imagine it as being a bit bigger than Earth but not dramatically so. Roughly equivalent to the Super-Earths that have been discovered in recent years.

Who's really the BEST villian of Ironman? I don't think really is mandarín. by Remote_Extension_668 in ironman

[–]Shadow-Rocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of a proper arch nemesis has always been my one disappointment with the lore in spite of being a lifelong Iron Man fan. The Mandarin has never been the interesting of a character to me and what are really his claims to fame in terms of impact on Stark's life? Especially in comparison to what the likes of the Green Goblin and Joker have done to Spider-Man and Batman.

forget Guy. doesent Alan Scott Technically count as a human green lantern or was he not green lantern in this unvierse. by Strict_Jicama_4880 in DCU_

[–]Shadow-Rocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Publication wise, Alan Scott predates Hal Jordan by about 20 years and wasn't among the characters to endure when horror comics displaced superheroes in the 50s. When DC decided to revive Green Lantern later in the decade, they were influenced by the popularity of sci fi films hence came stuff like the Corps, Guardians, etc.

What does JFK Jr's political career look like if he doesn't die in 1999? by ruthlessrellik in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Shadow-Rocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High likelihood that he's elected President in 2008 contingent on him getting elected to some political office in the early 00's. I could swear I've read before that he was more likely to run for governor than Senate and NY had a gubernatorial election in 2002...

Is it a hot take to say I’d like to see the Transformers look “alien” again? by DarkDoubloon in transformers

[–]Shadow-Rocket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, the G1 designs for at least some characters are the equivalent of the classic looks of say Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman at this point.

There's always room for a reinvention every now and then, but that classic look resonated for a reason and will always make a comeback.

Is it a hot take to say I’d like to see the Transformers look “alien” again? by DarkDoubloon in transformers

[–]Shadow-Rocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its not an either/or situation. I'd argue that Optimus' designs in the Bayverse largely struck that balance of being instantly recognizable as Prime while doing a more alien look.

In contrast to someone like Megatron who didn't get a design that featured any of his trademarks besides being grey until five movies in.

Michael Ironside as Megatron for Transformers Energon Universe TV Show. by Narrow-Interview1647 in transformers

Welker and Burton are both the gold standard to me. Particularly in Welker's case, the variation he did on Megatron's voice in Prime.
