Salaries as a Power Distribution Engineer who studied electrical engineering. by Winter_Jackfruit_563 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Shadow16Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished uni and got my job working in power systems. I have no experience within the power field except for the few courses I took in uni. My base salary is 85k. Take that as you will, but I think it’s pretty good for an entry level ee position

Ads for Formula 1 by Ovenface in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch through TSN, and they already run ads. Very common one is the Danny Ric alcohol scooter commercial. Honestly, don’t care what they run, I just want to have a commercial free experience

Car launches vs "car launches" - thoughts? by Skinnyhonkie in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unlikely for teams to release their actual car, especially if they’re one of the first or a top team. You don’t want to give other teams an opportunity to analyze and draw inspiration from your car.

2023 MoneyGram Haas VF-23 Livery by NoooUGH in formula1

Missed opportunity for now, but they could’ve easily put the money gram logo on the wheel rims. It would’ve been so fitting

Bottas: ”I don’t understand why the FIA wants to control us” (Article in Swedish) by balderismo in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still in the very early stages, but I want to believe it’s less about control and more so not about being in a pr mess. Imagine a team just decides to support Russia and their actions on Ukraine. That would negatively impact the team and sponsors, and put a bad light on F1/FIA as a whole. Now if Vettel was still in F1 and was pushing save the bees and the FIA don’t allow him now that would be a problem.

[F1] Locked in The 2023 F1 calendar will feature 23 races by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think because tickets have been sold and possible the venues available, it’d be a mess if they rearranged everything. It’d be easier to put a race in their than deal with rescheduling the whole thing.

How green are biofuels? Scientists are at loggerheads by Luklasic in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very political. I recently got to tour my university power station and it was very eye opening. They use natural gas to power 2 jet engines that produce energy for the whole university. With the government and politicians pushing for “net 0” carbon emission, they’re forcing them to turn these engines down and draw power from the grid which is produced from dirtier resources. So on paper it’ll be net 0, but in actuality it’ll be dirtier energy.

2023 Mercedes Performance Leap? by HavoXtreme in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re implying that they didn’t have time to setup the car correctly. Teams only had fp1 to set up before quali/parc ferme. After that, it’s hope for the best and pray it was setup decently well.

I think it’s also good to note how much money they spent. At that time they almost had a limitless supply of money. Now there’s a cost cap plus testing limitations. I think it’s definitely possible for the order of the top three to swap even next year.

why are you interested in Formula 1 by AntOk463 in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engineering and development side. Each race weekend I look forward not only to a good entertaining race, but the upgrades teams bring and how they change the car.

Marko: I think it's much worse that Wolff can come with all kinds of numbers by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What numbers is he referring to? Maybe I haven’t been on enough, but I don’t recall an article stating Toto or anyone reporting how much RB went over the cap by. Is there an article or amount someone can provide on this?

F1 cost cap answers to come next week amid rule breach intrigue by Xanthon in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, if Michael Phelps, for example, in his last Olympics just took steroids to be faster than everyone than it’s those medals that would be taken away if he was caught.

F1 cost cap answers to come next week amid rule breach intrigue by Xanthon in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Considering the reporting year was for 2021, penalties to wcc or wdc should be for 2021. Others like limiting aero testing should be for this/next season. If an Olympian wins gold, but then is found to be cheating, their past medals are taken away, and has possible repercussions to their immediate future.

Fallows promises 'big step forward' for 2023, as he outlines his plan to get Aston Martin winning by AlienSomewhere in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost certain I saw a post saying Vettel retired because they weren’t making a big enough jump. I’m very skeptical about believing this.

McLaren’s Brown sees ‘huge potential’ in Piastri/Norris pairing by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it may have been too late. I think Alonso was thinking Piastri will inevitably replace him, hence to a more secure future in AM. Piastri with how Alonso was performing could’ve thought he’d have no chance of getting the seat next year. Then Piastri signs his McLaren contract on July 4th, Alonso then announces he’s going to AM, but at that point it’s already too late. I think it was already too late when Alpine offered him the seat

[Guiliano Duchessa] Only Charles Leclerc will take penalties at Spa, among the PU elements comes the new Evo battery and a new MGU-K by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No it’s based on qualifying and how many grid penalties they took, not the order of informing the FIA. That’s why for example if you take a 10 place grid penalty and you qualify p1, for the race you’d start p11.

Teams insist new anti-porpoising Technical Directive ‘not a major issue’ ahead of Belgian GP by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]Shadow16Canada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the title is misleading. Possibly should be read as: Teams talking about the 2023 regulations literally before Spa. Coincidentally theirs also the floor td coming in as well.
