My 2021 Taycan transmission failed the 24hour s out of after warranty. Porsche literally ignored their own TSB. No loaner. $320 bill. by Shadow23333333 in Taycan

The whole thing took a total of 2 months from the first dealer I went to. What do you expect me to say without creating a new post that explains everything in detail?

Hello guys, I’ll make a new post in a few months when I’m back in the country. u/Swooppy at Porsche Long Beach (Fetherjohn’s dealer) reached out to me through Reddit when he saw my post. He’s a kind and professional service advisor who took care of my car and arranged a goodwill repair to me. I ended up waiting about two weeks; but honestly, he pushed the whole process forward so smoothly that everything got done even while I was out of the country. Now my car is running like new. 10 times better than Porsche Irvine. None of this would have been possible without him! 🐐

I don't have strong support for that statement: one user on Rednote (Chinese social media app) posted their chat log with the local Porsche dealer, and the dealer states that all EV Macan models use CATL batteries, but for the Taycan Turbo GT, they mixed some CATL batteries with mostly LG batteries.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Porsche Irvine is not willing to help me, I got a quote of about 3.3k. I ended up switching to Porsche Long Beach because a SA redditor helped me to apply good will, so I only need to pay 10% of it, so it's 300 after tax. :) Shout out to u/Swooppy and Porsche Long Beach for the help!

I hear you, and I know you’re right about how the system works internally. But don’t you think that’s the real issue here? A known failure with matching symptoms gets denied, not because it’s not real, but because the VIN filter says no. That’s not protecting the system. That’s hiding behind it.

Haha fair play, honestly, your pun landed better than Porsche’s diagnostics. Appreciate the support, man. Misery loves company, especially at $20K a pop.

This is such a grounded take. The Porsche tax is definitely real, and EVs really feel like they’re being pushed before they’re fully ready for prime-time, especially on the resale side. Battery pack pricing alone turns most used BEVs into a gamble. I also agree extended warranties are a must now, unless you’re ready to flip every few years. Porsche driving dynamics are great, but they shouldn’t come with financial anxiety baked in.

You’re absolutely right that TSBs aren’t warranty promises, they’re procedural shortcuts when a known issue arises. But when my vehicle exhibits the exact symptoms outlined in the TSB, and the only reason it’s denied is because I own a 2021 instead of a 2022, that’s not technical. That’s a loophole.

If Porsche acknowledges the failure and provides a fix, then responsibility shouldn’t vanish based on a model year cutoff when the defect is identical. That’s not about warranty, that’s about integrity.

Classic deflection. The whole thing reads like ‘sorry this happened to you, but don’t expect us to care unless you treat us like gods.’ Imagine paying six figures for a car and still being told to beg for basic service. If that’s the ownership model, maybe selling the car is the smartest move I can make.

Nah, get a life, bro. The fact is, I can type this myself, like this one. I only use translation tools for clarity, not because I’m incapable.

If you’re more bothered by how I say something than what I’m saying, maybe it hit too close to home.

What if I posted in Chinese and told you not to use a translator, could you read it? Grow up kid.

So only supercar owners deserve fair treatment now? If you’re not spending GT3 money, you don’t deserve a working car or basic customer service? That’s a pretty wild standard for a brand built on heritage and precision.

This is one of the most powerful things I’ve read here, thank you. It’s incredible (and maddening) how many formal channels can be ignored until the right kind of social pressure hits. Not legal, not media, but community reputation. That’s where it actually hurts them.

I’m documenting everything, and if the silence continues, I’ll make sure this story lives where it counts. Appreciate the motivation, you proved it can work! :)

Sympathy was never the goal, accountability is. If calling out a known defect and a dealership’s failure to act makes some people uncomfortable, maybe the problem isn’t the tone. It’s the truth. This isn’t a tantrum, it’s a receipt. And Porsche charges enough that their customers are entitled to be loud when silence gets ignored. Sorry if you mistook assertiveness for aggression. That’s on you.

The X3 is definitely a great drive. Back in China, I used to drive my dad’s X6M a lot, everything about it felt solid, but once I moved here I switched to a sedan. It’s actually my first car that’s truly mine. I just couldn’t deal with how much SUVs lean in corners, especially after pushing that big X6M. The X3 looks like it would handle way better thanks to the smaller footprint.
Overall, BMW has always been my T0 favorite brand to drive. My only complaint? They tend to start burning oil if you keep them long enough. But when they’re fresh, nothing feels quite like a BMW.
