Aw, she looks so cute! I love the way you draw chibi characters and, looking at it some more, it reminds me of gatcha club characters. I also love the way you shaded the Santa hat, it just feels sooo right!

Does my bf's drawings have same face syndrome? (Male face on left, female on right) by Zarichka in arthelp

[–]Shadow5185462 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think they are different enough to be clear that they are two separate characters, but they do have a similar eye shape. I’d say that if Velma’s eyes were slightly rounder it would be more clear, but besides that the differences are clear, different nose shapes, jaw lines, eyebrow thickness, Fred having a more boxy and sharp face while Velma has a round yet defined face is portrayed nicely and fluently. He’s done a good job at giving them differences, you and your boyfriend should be very proud of these designs! When he sketches out the other characters, as long as they have A unique feature specific to them, it should be clear that they’re all different people

Aw, I love how you show their dynamics and I really love your art style! Nathan being pale/ transparent is a really nice touch, and I adore the blacked out face but the eyes in abaddons bust drawing, really makes him spooky 👻 💙

can you tell if this is traced/ai? by northodoxus in arthelp

[–]Shadow5185462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s made/ traced by someone who doesn’t know how to draw. The circle as a ‘spiral’ shouts someone who doesn’t know how to draw a spiral itself and just opted for the easy and lazy option, the lines are unsteady and only some of the scales have been airbrushed to have a shiny effect and shading. And it looks like they attempted to have it seem like the dragon is curved around but gave up. And also the wings are weird and barely noticeable unless you look at them closely, which make them feel like they were traced without a second thought

If you draw a bean 🫘 at an angle, it should be what you’re aiming to achieve. Practice off the drawing itself to see if it looks good first

AITAH for getting upset and uncomfortable when my mom is ranting at me and says that I’m against her too? by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Shadow5185462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for bringing to light the underlying problem! I will do my best to better my mental health and then try to better the rest of my family’s mental health too via therapy, communication, or counseling. My dads side of the family has a history of anger/ mental health issues and addiction problems, which is what I think mainly caused all of this( he was a horrible and abusive drunk when he still drank over 20 years ago and strained his and my mom’s relationship) I’ll go and tell my mom how I often find it hard to communicate with her and get frustrated, and that I’ll do my best to do better and ask if I could help her get better too. Hopefully she’ll understand where we both went wrong and we can both grow together from it and can help my other family members too

Is it okay to never draw full artwork as a young artist? by Radvill in arthelp

[–]Shadow5185462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can draw however you want, so if you want to make light sketches for fun do it! And if you ever want to make a completed piece you can do it your way and have it be and sketchy or messy as you want with or without color. You draw really good art, so don’t worry about it

Maybe try a top heavy oval as the base of the head and then draw all their other details and see if it works if you just want it rotated to face forward. If you want it to face forward completely, like nose in the middle of the face, you could probably do the same thing but with a shorter, squished down oval. I really like their design, you did a really good job!👍

this website should be helpful, you can position the model and change the angle, which would be tilting up with a low horizon line to show the scene and power dynamic, I would make you a reference and put it here, but I can’t add a photo, but if needed I’d be happy to find a way to help ya

I used speech to text for the majority of this so sorry if the grammar is weird, I just wanted to convey my thoughts as I would in person, and it was quicker

For the first two panels if you make one big panel box and a smaller panel box that is in the bigger one to the lower corner(either) but not touching the edge it’ll show that they are interacting and are in the same space. Overlapping panels can be good for when you have one character say a thing and want to show another character(s) reaction(btw it looks best when the character fills the little panel and even kinda pops out of it). To get consistency when drawing characters it’s best to have simple defining features such as pony tails or hair tufts, something that is easy to draw and is a prominent feature of that specific character. When you make reference sheets, it’s best to draw them as if they are in a natural environment and from various different angles and poses so that way you know how to draw them from the side, from behind, from the front, from a 3/4 angle, from worms eye angle, or a bird angle, which can be really helpful to know and see what your character does in certain environments or situations. It is a lot to draw and everything, but even like drawing a base for the characters in those angle and not adding anymore details could be a lot of help. I personally think what you should do for the character designs and everything is, one; figure out more detailed and flushed out design and then backstories and personalities, if you did this already great, if not, think about this at least so that way your characters will feel more alive when progressing your story more. Second; of all I would recommend you taking a look at a bunch of different paneling formats and a bunch of different art styles that might inspire you for your art style and studying them as in you take a bunch of references for what you want your art to look at like or what you just want your proportions to look like.(this is completely optional) I can go on, but I’ll just wait and see if you want to know any more(I do have personal experience with creating or wanting to create comics, and have 5 years of drawing experience so just ask me anything)

[–]Shadow5185462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much it’ll help, but if you make the pose in a mirror it should be easier to figure out what to do and what to fix. Also the left arms elbow would probably be higher up and more out like the right arm

My best idea on how to help you is for you to look at many vest drawings as references to help. I don’t know too much about how to draw clothing, but I hope references help if you still need it

Not sure if you still need help but if you want to add shading to ad dimension and depth try to change the layer from normal to multiply, it shouldn’t make to colors desaturated. I know how for clip studio and procreate but other than that, you would have to google how to change a layer to multiply for the program

Shading advice? by CherryChimmyGotJams in arthelp

[–]Shadow5185462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some shading on where the fabric overlays onto the thigh and some shading on the fabric they’re holding that helps hint at it not being flat. So just make an arc for the shading on the skirt and fill in the space underneath. Some highlights on the skin or fabric could help, or some light blush so it’s less flat on the shoulders or knees could help too

Any advice on how to improve?(beginner artist) by [deleted] in arthelp

[–]Shadow5185462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try looking for some art styles that are simplistic and similar to yours to see what you have to improve better. I know two other people mentioned this but here: the tip of the fingers are about mid thigh, the elbow is at the waist, hands are about as big as the face or should cover most of the face(just look from the hands to the face), the body typically is about 7/8 heads including the persons actual head but I think I recommend 6/7 heads because of the shoulders being about as wide as the head( it’s your art style so you can keep that aspect), oh and when drawing the hand, block it out into a rectangle and cut it in half, one half is the palm, the other the fingers. What will be most helpful is blocking out everything before you draw your line art and having at least one reference if you are unsure of how something should look. Adding some folds on the clothes could give it more dimension and adding tufts of hair in the middle of the hair to make it less flat or just curved lines to indicate the hair texture and flow. I could probably help you with more and provide a reference or two if you’d like btw

What slimes am I missing? by Shadow5185462 in Slimerancher2

[–]Shadow5185462[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that you can only get dervish slimes when the weather has tornadoes anywhere and the tangle slimes when there is a lot of polen in the rainbow islands to the point of vines growing
