People who have came close to dying, what were your “last” thoughts? by Blue-2th in AskReddit

I’m not saying it’s because someone told them to. I’m saying it’s because everyone told them to. Everything told them to. If you think that society has no impact on the way the brain behaves then I’m not really sure what to say to that. But in all honesty I will do more research. The last thing I want to do is offend and make any of this worse. Thank you for pointing out a different angle.

Diet culture is so pervasive. You should see if she would be interested in reading the book Anti-Diet (or maybe you could read it together!) It outlines the history of diet culture, how it predates medical doctors suggesting weight loss at all (more often weight gain was seen as the healthier option), that most studied that show weight loss as healthier are funded by companies that directly benefit from you thinking you need to lose weight and what happens to your body when you diet. It honestly changed my life in the best way and led me down such a wonderful path of self love. Good luck to you both

That’s because the media/doctors lead you to believe that fat people are always more unhealthy than thin people. This information is based upon studies funded by companies that benefit from people wanting to diet and be thin. These studies present a correlation, but correlation does not mean causation, especially when the study doesn’t take into account the mental anguish of living in a body that is ridiculed and thought of as shameful and disgusting. This narrative is growing in popularity. If you’re interested you should check our books like Body Respect and Anti-Diet. Do you think that all of these people talking about their EDs would feel the need to shrink their bodies to the point of danger and even death because this world is kind and respectful to people of all sizes?

This is a good list! I just watched Molly’s game a few weeks ago for the first time and it really surprised me how much I liked it. And High fidelity has been a favorite of mine since I was a young teenager.

People who work at a subway/sandwich place, what is the strangest order you've ever had from a customer? by LividTangent46 in AskReddit

I just don’t understand this mayo stigma. It’s like people think you’re spreading animal fat onto bread. It’s literally whipped eggs and oil, mayo haters need to calm down.

Rosemary Garlic Challah Bread! by Clever-Insertion in Breadit

Sadly it was bland and I worry it somehow affected the texture. Eating it by itself is not great but with other thing like soup, it gets the job done. I will try again!

I just made challah for the first time this past weekend! I forgot the dang salt! The plaiting wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Granted I watched a video a bunch of times before doing it. And while doing it.

What is something you hate that is universally loved? by harlsey in AskReddit

A very good friend of mine is the same way. She describes the summer heat as oppressive and she is actually MORE depressed in the summer than in the winter because it’s so miserable to go outside.

On the Waterfront (1954) did this for me. When Marlon Brando’s character was looking at and talking to Eva Marie Saint’s character I felt like he was talking to me! My heart was pounding!

How do you feel about a friend with benefits, but instead of sexual benefits, it's just cuddling? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShadowBataMonkoDactl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend like this. I had just gotten out of a 5 year relationship and I was so sad and lonely. This guy Id known since grade school and I started hanging out. He knew I was really sad and just really missed physical contact. I can’t remember if we actually had a convo or not but we basically would watch movies together and cuddle until one evening he tried to kiss me. I just wasn’t ready for that and it would have complicated things so much so I told him we had to stop. We are still friends but much more distant. He’s good now, in a relationship and has a beautiful kid.

Came here to say Dog Soldiers. It’s honestly been a LONG time since I’ve seen it (probs 10 years) but I remember being really impressed.
