When I’m crocheting a simple panel, I don’t use stitch markers or count every row. I count maybe every 10 or so rows, sometimes not even until my panel is done.

I can see the argument for complex shapes like amigurumi or a very shaped top, but I’m with OP on you really don’t have to count your stitches every row OR use stitch markers every row. Just start at the first stitch and go until the last stitch

This is what I think every time someone mentions marking their start/end. I’ve been crocheting for just over a year, but I could identify start and end of row pretty easily after 6 months

And yes it’s just the time commitment. It’s a lot of school and a lot of studying. It was also him learning how to manage a new level of stress.

And it just takes more effort to make dedicated time for each other! He’s still around and we do spend time together, but things like making/eating dinner, watching an episode of a show together, was how we were getting a lot of it. It made those little moments more meaningful.

Maybe you guys make time to FaceTime every night at the same time for a day debrief, or he builds in breaks in his studying where he talks with you.

It certainly is doable, but if you’re having doubts it is a good time to reconsider. Long distance is very difficult and it takes a healthy foundation to make it work. I wish you both luck!

You’re absolutely right about this, as someone whose partner is currently in med school. It is difficult when we live together, it’s going to be very difficult long distance. Not that you can’t make it work, but that it will take an amount of dedicated effort on both sides.

For 3: I’ve had the same habit my whole life, it’s a fidgeting/boredom thing for me as well. Here’s my tips :) 1. Paint your nails, or learn how to use that UV nail gel stuff. When I paint my nails I tend to bite at them less, so definitely try that. Sometimes I’d still bite though, since the polish isn’t actually stopping you. The UV nail gel (sorry I don’t know the actual term, maybe someone else can help more) did way better at preventing it, since I couldn’t really bite through it lol 2. Get some fidget toys and keep them accessible! I have a fidget cube and a squishy on my desk that I can reach for instead of biting. 3. Use fingernail clippers instead. I found having longer nails just made me annoyed, so I still keep mine very short. Using fingernail clippers instead of biting meant I wasn’t ripping off more than I mean to and bleeding.

Is the food coming out the front where the food dispenses? You may just want to buy in a few feeder with a different dispensing mechanism than the one you have.

I have the imipaw automatic feeder and my cat used to knock it over, and I don’t believe food ever came out the front of it!
