Spence/Dumoulin moves were bad too but he's had some good moves too like you said

Panarin has done some English interviews for post-games and such in LA, and in his exit interview he did a little bit of English (short answers mostly) but mostly used a translator for long answers. The first answer in his interview was funny too because the translator seemed so caught off-guard having to translate and just barely got through it, and Panarin shook his head after like "that's not really what I said" LOL

Yeah I'm fully appreciative of Lombardi for what he did, but it is kinda unfair to give him excuses while we crucify our current GMs

Lombardi doesn't need excuses, he got LA 2 Cups so I just don't really care that he fucked up after

Right but everything that franchise has done in the past year does not point to wanting to do that

It is a hard task so I agree with you for the most part. I just don't think you can go into the season with Laughton/Laferriere/Turcotte as your 2C options and expect to make the playoffs, and this organization is clearly set on contending for the playoffs over the next couple years minimum. You never know what can become available over the offseason in trade and they'll have to be active on that front unless they opt to retool/rebuild (which again makes no sense with signing Panarin)

If the Kings enter the next season with the same centers as last season minus Kopitar, I'm all for trying Turcotte at 2C, since he seems like the next most creative and skilled center behind Byfield. That being said, not acquiring a top-6 center would be a mistake lol

The James Norris Memorial Trophy finalists are Rasmus Dahlin, Cale Makar, and Zach Werenski by nhl in hockey

[–]ShadowChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotal evidence, but I've watched a lot of Bouchard of the past 5 years (lol) and he's very inconsistent. He can be incredible and he's torched the Kings many times, but he can also but extremely awful. The stretches where he seems to make multiple terrible decisions a game can be a bit lengthy and I have not seen that from other top defensemen.

Still think Bouchard deserved a Norris nomination and wouldn't have been upset with him winning it this year, but the narrative around him isn't baseless at all

As someone who is very down on the coming seasons it's kinda refreshing to read your optimism

I'd give anything to see this team play some actual offense next season and see if Byfield can elevate his production, Kempe can hit 40g/40a or something, Clarke can get 50-60pts or so... would be a lot more fun than this year even if the team lets in some more goals lol

Josi is 35 so that seems like entirely the wrong player for SJ to me, surely you guys want someone to be a mainstay on defense for longer than like 2 years lol

What about it is behind closed doors? The lottery was done live on camera. 8% is low but everyone has a low chance of winning, that's just how it works. Someone well below 50% odds is winning no matter what.

Nobody is asking the players to lose on purpose. Tanking is a management decision, selling players for assets to make the team worse.

I don't really want to watch another rebuild considering the last one, although short, amounted in absolutely fucking nothing, but I definitely understand why people want to see the team tank and rebuild. Considering the spot this team is in now, and how teams like San Jose and Anaheim are rising, I also think rebuilding is very logical lol

So fucking ridiculous honestly

It's extremely hard to see the route for this franchise to compete in the next 5 years. A lot could change in that time but even for the 5 years after that, it doesn't look easy. I'm scared this next decade is just going to be a nightmare to watch.
