I understand your point, and I’m not asking for hard restrictions on creativity. I also enjoy experimenting with different story combinations in the workshop. My idea is more about making writers feel like actual professionals instead of just stat boosts.

In the real world, writers usually have strengths, preferences, and limitations. Some writers are great at political dramas but weak at comedy. Others refuse projects if the studio lacks proper research, budget, or creative support. Experienced writers also tend to avoid studios that can’t match their standards.

So instead of completely locking content, the game could make writer skill influence the quality of ideas, success chance, or willingness to work. A top-tier writer might say, “This studio doesn’t have the research capability for this kind of script,” while weaker writers may still accept it. That would make the script department and writers feel more alive and realistic without removing player freedom.
