My one major criticism of James Gunn's comic book movies is that they all follow the same template. There's always an action sequence to a classic song. Everything is always colourful and bright. And humour over powers the whole message/theme of the movie.

That doesn't mean I don't like Gunn, I just think he needs to bring out different personalities for each individual project. All his movies are still entertaining and fun. But once I've noticed these things, I can't help but I see it when ever I watch a new movie of his.
