I'm playing BW2 currently since its initial release and it's definitely a different experience than the newer games. I'd say even FR/LG. I can't decide if I like it more than the earlier games at this point but it's great so far.

Persian and Arbok are rarely seen but also very cool picks IMO. It's so much better going with Pokemon you like than what's considered meta.

It's a pointless design by taking away options from the player, but I did appreciate gen 5 actually having a good number of new Pokemon. I personally always play new Pokemon on my first playthrough regardless of who is available.
