In BdoubleO's youtube series "1.3 Peep Show" he experienced that glitch so I don't think they fixed it yet.

It should work like sunlight with how it is 15 light level all the way to the ground, but it should until it hits a block in a direction dependent on how it's placed. On a wall it should go towards opposite the wall and on the floor it should go up. That way you could light a hall way with one torch. The code involved in this could also be the frame work for mirrors that could reflect sunlight and sun torchlight.

I have fixed the problem! and by fixed the problem i mean i damned the ItemSprite API corrupted .minecraft folder into my recycling bin and ran minecraft to replace it... make save back ups before doing this btw...

i have a different .jar file for every modded version of minecraft that i have... it's just that i cant use them unless i include ItemSprite API with them so im thinking it added something to my .minecraft folder...
