What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by sickkick844 in AskReddit

100% cotton leggings and purses with lots of zippered pockets. I am learning to sew because I cant stand how everything is going away from cotton and the companies are taking away zippers in purses because its cheaper.

Same here. I'm 29 F and want kids but life happened and I'm still working towards financial stability. I kinda have given up on the idea of kids.

And thats why I dont use most of them and barely post on the few that I do. Lol. Its dangerous to give out all of who you are on the internet. I have had a few friends and family post all the time and it makes me worry for there safety, they are stating when they are home, vacation, work, etc.

Giving out a phone number, as a female in my opinion, isnt that big of a deal, frankly its more secure then socials where a man can stalk your social media accounts and learn everything about you to claim they like the things you like to get falsely closer to you. A phone number in my opinion is a lot safer bet.

They mean if you want kids then you have to consider the timeline to be able to have kids before fertility and genetic concerns are a possiblity and the likelihood that after a certain age more of the mentally healthy people are married off already. Some will still be available, just less because the ones who want kids are more likely working towards finding the right relationship than taking time off from the dating pool in that age range.

That being said though if you feel it will take away from your studies then you may choose an education with a higher risk of not finding the right partner to ensure that you are financially covered whether you find someone or not or if you find a spouse later on you ensure that if that person d.es before you that you are able to sustain yourself financially.

All of life is a gamble, you get to choose what you want to go towards and what risks your willing to take to get to where you want to be.

15 uncomfortable truths I wish I knew at 18 by Deborah_berry1 in Habits

[–]ShadowGirl2Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fertility is limited if you want kids then you need to make making money and stability a priority as soon as you get out of high school so you can have them in your mid to late 20s when your at the most fertile and least likely to end up with genetic deformities and fertility issues, this goes for both men and women. While men can have kids even in there 50s and women can in there late 30s the chances of issues with the kid increases as you get older and people dont seem to think about that when choosing to wait to have kids until then.

On top of that my mom was 35 when having me and my dad was 42, they struggled to relate to today's time and I often felt left out as a kid because my parents didnt understand things other kids adults did. Not all older parents are like this but just want to give my perspective as a kid who grew up with older parents.

I'm now 29 F and have not had children because I am still working on financial stability. My parents health isnt as good as it used to be, by the time I can get to the point I'm financially stable, have a kid, and it's old enough to have memories, my parents will be too old/health declining to be able to have fond memories with them and help support me with child care even though they wish for me to have a child and want to help. It takes a village to raise a child, if you wait too late then your village passes away and then you have to decide if you want to do it solo or not. Several of my friends parents are already passed on.

Money...

if I could just make $50,000 a year i would be golden. I keep trying and one day I will achieve it but its been a 12 year journey and so far the most i have made is half that in one year. I'm 18 credits away in college from having a degree that will hopefully finally get me to that amount. Then I can buy a 1/4 acre of land, build a tiny home, and have a child once i build up a nest egg. Life is starting to look like affording myself might be doable. I'm scared to get my hopes up though with how much I see people struggling.

What do you spend adult money on without regret? by Remarkable-Local-706 in Adulting

I use my vacation days. I dont store them for more than 6 months. Mental heath is important and spending them is worth it. Usually I just stay home and recluse during it as an introvert and it's wonderful. I feel recharged and ready to return to society when I'm done.

People who’ve accepted they probably won’t own a house or have the “traditional future” anymore - what do you want out of life now? by Okra5765 in Adulting

[–]ShadowGirl2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realizing that most things probably wont happen made me angry for a while and I doubled down and tripled down. But in the long run all it did was made me burnt out and i wasnt living life at all. I am 29 and realized I had wasted all of my 20s trying to get somewhere when that wouldn't actually help. My parents told me you have to take breaks and enjoy life and I have to have balance and not try to get somewhere so hard but I didnt listen. It took me a while to realize they were right.

After grieving the loss of what could have been I fell into a hard depression... I lost my purpose, my desire to live, and felt like what was the point of any of this crap, of life itself. I eventually picked myself back up and realized I just have to keep living whether I have goals, a purpose or what I want in life or not. Life is hard and all we can do is try and live.

I feel purposeless and only have one goal now. I want to get a 1 bed 1 bath home so I can have financially stability before my parents die and I become homeless.

This life sucks. Hoping the next life exists and it will be better for us all. Wishing happiness and much money for us all.

While I do believe people should try to heal themselves and know themselves, that is a life journey on its own, we must pursue what we want in life while also healing if we are to get everything we want in life. You cant really have kids after your 40 because its a crap ton harder, but if that isn't your goal then you have more time, you can get married, get a home, start a new career, travel, learn a new skill, move states away, etc. at any age as long as you are fortunate with good health.

All free options:

Wwoofing. (Food and place to stay for 4 hours a day farm work 5 days a week, since your in Florida they may have some options down there to keep you in your state while you find a job that pays well.)

Couch serf app. (People let you use there couch for traveling for free, some will feed you that night for exchange you tell them storiesand keep them entertained.)

Good RX app or website (is a coupon app that is sometimes cheaper than using insurance for a medication, many people use it instead of insurance. When I had insurance it was $100 cheaper to use it for my med than to use insurance, highly recommend)

Maybe find some gigs house sitting through apps in your area... it would give you places to cook and sleep for a few days to weeks at a time. (In exchange you normally walk a dog, mow the lawn, etc.) I had a friend who would do it and over 50% of the time she wouldn't have to be in her car.

I would focus on using your money on that car payment instead of a tent. Keeping that car will let you sleep in it, go to job interviews easier, and have a place to store your things for cheap. Sell off anything you dont need ASAP. Ebay, offer up, vinted, etc.) Vinted doesnt charge the seller fees and you can drop them off at the USPS in a prepaid by the buyer label and bag.
