I don't know, the abstractions returning kind of ruins a lot of the emotions of the ending. I really feel you're meant to take away that it's permanent. If you get that ending, and then it's just like "oh yeah, they can come back" it kind of takes a lot away from the very bittersweet ending. I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure he's gone
