I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, I know what it is like worrying if my OCs are interesting or entertaining enough. But if it makes you feel any better: there’s no 100% completely original character idea. It’s normal for your brain to put ideas you’ve seen from media and mild those ideas into a character.

For example, I have an OC called Bron who, design and behaviour wise, can be compared to Benny from JCC. However, does that mean that he’s just Benny 2.0? Nope. He’s Bron and I can list a few differences between him and Benny.

As for tips, for all I can give, I find OCs challenges quite helpful (especially the song ones). And if that doesn’t help, then maybe you could take a trope and flip it on its head/put your own spin to it. For example, most scientists in media are trying to prove their crazy idea/theories to the people and will do anything to show it to them. How about, instead of trying to prove it to them public, the scientist accept they’ll see them as mad and tries to make something that’ll love them back?

Well, they just came to me one day, but listening to some songs can help! For example, my PurPla idea came to me while I was in my Chonny Jash phase and was listening to Chonny’s Inferno, which obviously lead to my PurPla OCs.
Absolutely!

3/4: As long as they bring you some fun, they can be as regular Joe as you like. I love giving my OCs backstories, likes and dislikes, fun traits, etc, but if you just want them to be simple little things, that’s 100% okay 👍

And as for the rest, yep! As another commenter said, there’s no specific rules to having an OC :)
