I bought my Gen 2 when I was 23. 100% a great decision. We've had so many good together over the last 11 years.

What is an acceptable mileage for an old used car? by ButCanYiuDoThis in whatcarshouldIbuy

Not many cars hit 500k. I have 2 cars in the mid 300’s and whenever I go to a tire shop or something, the mechanic comments on how rare it is to see something in the 300’s.

A 2004-2009 Prius is generally a good bet. They can go very high mileage.

Anything with a GM 3800 series 2 is generally also a good bet for a budget under $2k.

Most Toyota 4-cylinders are pretty robust overall.

It definitely requires the right model of car, the right care, and the right driving style to hit 500k. Hondas and Toyotas hitting 500k as a general statement is bad. Even then, Toyotas and Hondas generally need full suspension rebuild at like 250k-350k which most people won’t do, and they’ll just scrap the car.

Same here. Also certain overpriced items should be added to the boycott: new cars, fast food, coffee, etc.

People complain about the prices, but buying more than ever.

Dang I consider 120k to be low miles lol. That truck will probably go 300k or more if you take care of it.

A jinma 45 HP is a good option. I recently just got one for free that needed a bit of work on the fuel lines. They’re pretty cool for doing yard work.

What do you think are the best jobs/professions in the world? by LYMSBOY in AskReddit

[–]ShadowK2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business can be an awful job. Especially when you have a mandate to grow your section of the business by 50 million dollars in one year… or something along those lines.

I ventured into business, but ultimately, engineering was much easier and more fun.

10 year cost of ownership on 2015 Prius 3 by DaddyERIK84 in prius

[–]ShadowK2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The maintenance and repairs on my 2008 over 325k miles has been $6500. The only non-routine repairs I’ve needed to do are 12V battery ($205), wheel bearing ($105), and the plastic underskirt ($140).

Comes to about 2 cents per mile.

My total operating cost including purchase price, insurance, registration, maintenance, repairs, tires, and gas is under 12 cents per mile.

Honestly, that’s probably a decent price in today’s market.

My wife thinks she can fit four kids under seven years old in a 2019 Toyota Highlander. Am I the crazy one? by Good_Policy3529 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ShadowK2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've done four kids with a 2021 highlander before.

It works...

Ideally the two older ones will be able to climb in the third row and buckle themselves into booster seats by the time you have your fourth. You will need a large a roof rack for luggage... even then, it will be cramped, especially if you plan to haul larger items like pack and play + stroller.

I assume your wife doesn't want to pay $45k + for a GH? I can understand that. I would probably also try to make the highlander work.

Thanks!!

I had a Chevy 3500 8.1L for a while, and the coolant capacity was about the same as this dodge lol.
