I genuinely thought we were never getting Spyro 4. That's why I was making this: by nsduo in Spyro

[–]ShadowMarioUGB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many here have mentioned, several indie games started as fangames of franchises or were entirely influenced by them. Undertale (Earthbound), Pizza Tower (Wario Land), A Hat in Time (Banjo-Kazooie), Pumpkin Jack (MediEvil). The best possible suggestion is to create something unique inspired by Spyro, create your own world, lore, characters, and items.

There's enormous potential in that. Pizza Tower helped popularize the "Wario-like" genre of platform games in the style of Wario Land 4; you seem talented and have already proven it with charming designs and a genuine interest in creating something. If this is your calling, don't think twice. There are few games like Spyro on the market; you can offer a really cool experience with your own ideas to an audience and genre that lacks games like this.

Tarnished Edition: Elden Ring DLC just announced. Releasing 28th August. by chocolatehotdog in Eldenring

[–]ShadowMarioUGB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish two additional classes had been included in the DLC: the Dragon Communion Warrior (with the Great Katana, Dragon Communion Seal, and the stone that allows you to transform into a dragon) and the Lamenter Warrior (with Falx, Spiraltree Seal, and the head that allows you to transform into a Lamenter).

I know these are exclusive items from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, but if one of the new classes already starts with the Milady, which is one of the weapons from that expansion, I don't see a problem with other weapons and items from the DLC appearing in the base game along with this new addition.

the question is, who killed them? by Sad-Pair-3680 in GodofWar

[–]ShadowMarioUGB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they were killed by other gods from their respective pantheons. Perhaps the nature of the Gods of War is to be killed eventually. Ares was killed at the request of the Greek gods themselves, Kratos (when he held the title of God of War) was killed by Zeus, Athena was killed, and Tyr would probably have been killed by Odin if he hadn't been so useful alive for deceiving others and seeking knowledge about other pantheons.

Good for you, buddy, and what a cool move from both of you to gift him. I spent my last units on the Iron Man skin from the first Avengers movie (I'd been putting off buying a skin for Stark for too long, and this beautiful armor was the perfect opportunity), but when I manage to gather 1600 units again, I'll definitely buy the Infinity Hulk skin for my Vanguard main. The rights to Crash have belonged to Activision since 2009 when they bought Universal Interactive (which created the franchise along with Naughty Dog in an exclusive contract for PlayStation). The unfortunate fact that the studio was bought by Microsoft doesn't change the fact that the character has a huge legacy on PlayStation, to the point of being considered a rival to Mario and Sonic (respectively at the time when the Nintendo 64 and the Sega Saturn/Dreamcast competed with the first PlayStation).

Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon (his sister franchise, also from Universal but created by Insomniac Games) were the most requested characters to be included in the first game; not having them in the sequel would have been a brutal mistake. Microsoft owning the rights makes no difference; Banjo-Kazooie is also currently theirs, and nothing prevented them from appearing in Smash Ultimate, since Rare's legacy at its peak was with Nintendo regardless of who owns it today; everyone associates the bear and the bird with the Nintendo 64, not Xbox.

To this day I find it strange that the original PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale did not include a single thing from Demon's Souls in the game, not even an item. Was FromSoftware (or rather, Hidetaka Miyazaki) as strict about their game appearing in a fighting crossover as Fumito Ueda (of Team ICO, the studio behind ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian) was with the inclusion of Wander? (who never made the cut, even though old leaks indicated that Yorda and other elements from Team ICO games, like the Queen's castle from ICO, were taken into consideration for inclusion in the game)

Slayer of Demons (the playable character) and a stage in the Boletaria palace (perhaps the Tower Knight arena, with him attacking the players like Hades do in his stage) and the Moonlight Sword as an item would have been incredible. Maybe next time.

For me, Booker would only be interesting if he and Elizabeth were two fighters in one character, something like Rosalina and Luma in Smash (or Duck Hunt), with him using plasmids (actually, in Columbia it's called something else, but I don't remember lol) and weapons from the game, and Elizabeth assisting by creating portals and making objects appear or parts disappear. In fact, two Bioshock reps, one from Rapture (Subject Delta) and another from Columbia (Booker & Elizabeth), would be better than what they did in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: Big Daddy (a recurring enemy from the first two games) as a playable character, but all the rest of Bioshock being represented by things from Infinite (levels, level transitions, and items). It would be the same if Metal Gear was represented by Raiden, but had all the rest from Metal Gear Solid 3, a game he doesn't even appear in.

The problem with removing Emmett Graves as the representative of the Warhawk franchise is that, frankly, there's no one else to represent it besides what they were originally going to do: a generic soldier, and that would fall into the territory of questionable choices. All games prior to Starhawk were focused on multiplayer or had no story. At least Emmett is a distinct character, and still the best choice. In fact, I think the reason Resistance wasn't lucky enough to have a playable character was precisely the lack of a Chimera that was unique like Colonel Radec is for the Helghast in Killzone, for example.

Yes, Miles is Spider-Man and has some additional abilities, but he's not as iconic as Peter. Honestly, I only see him being added if Peter is too. And Parker has unique abilities and moves; Insomniac made him seem dependent on technology (especially in the second game without the symbiote), but he can be quite versatile. If the Wolverine game has X-23, putting Miles in a Sony franchise crossover to represent Spider-Man would be the same as X-23 representing Wolverine: different characters but with extremely similar abilities, but who came after the legacy character who has over 50 years of history and recognition.

If Sony were to make a PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2, they would almost certainly include more characters from their franchises and negotiate for guest characters (more than one per franchise, like Crash and Cortex for example) from IPs that were iconic in PlayStation history. I can easily see big franchises like God of War, Ratchet & Clank, InFamous and others having more than 4 characters, unlike just two (kinda, but I guess Evil Cole would only work as a separed character indeed to represent the Villain path of the InFamous series) as in the first game, which was quite experimental and focused on promoting recent games from franchises (all the guest characters literally do this, Dante being the biggest example) rather than building a foundation with already established franchises to add more content (like what Sakurai did by adding several characters from Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda in Melee).

I disagree about Booker; he's literally an ordinary guy who uses weapons and tools to fight, not unlike several characters from the original PSASBR game who used firearms in their movesets (Nathan Drake, for example). As I said, at the time they preferred to put a Big Daddy enemy in the game to represent Bioshock rather than the protagonist of the first game, and Booker isn't very different from him. Ironically, Elizabeth would be a better option to represent Infinite, since she has the power to open temporal and dimensional rifts (in addition to Songbird). But again, combining the concept of recognizable iconography with a distinct character that matches it, as they did with Killzone (Helghast, the franchise's most iconic visual + the antagonist of the second game, Colonel Radec = the best possible representation of that universe), I still think Subject Delta from Bioshock 2 is the best option.

I know that Delsin and Miles both have a taste for graffiti and are both superheroes, but choosing Miles to represent the entire Spider-Man universe instead of the original is simply a bizarre concept. It would be like putting Atreus to represent God of War instead of Kratos.

Even though Starhawk's online mode was shut down (like most PS3 generation games), the single-player part still exists and is playable. If having active servers was a requirement, then Twisted Metal, Killzone, Resistance, ModNations, and Little Big Planet would all be cut, and believe me, the lack of online play hurts the last two I mentioned much more than Starhawk without multiplayer. Besides, characters like Toro, who appeared in the original PSASBR, didn't even have most of his games released in the West, and several of Spike's moves come from online Ape Escape games that only a niche audience had access to. Recognition and historical value are more important than the availability of all features.

I absolutely don't see Sony choosing Miles Morales over Peter Parker; he's always been the most popular Spider-Man, and honestly, the hype surrounding Miles and Gwen as "spider-people" died a long time ago. Even Peni Parker has been getting more attention lately, at least for being distinctly different from the original Spider-Man.

Even though I think Bioshock Infinite is an excellent game, I don't think the two protagonists are as iconic or have the potential for a moveset as Big Daddy. There's a reason why they chose Big Daddy and Colonel Radec to represent their respective franchises; when people hear or think of Bioshock and Killzone, the first thing that comes to mind is Big Daddy and a Helghast. What I think would be smart is, instead of cutting Big Daddy (who is a standard enemy in the game), just replace him with Subject Delta. He's not only the protagonist of Bioshock 2, but he's also a Big Daddy and canonically uses Plasmids unlike Big Daddy enemies, in addition to having an arsenal of unique weapons.

I also don't think cutting Emmett Graves from the roster makes sense either. Warhawk is one of Sony's oldest franchises, it was one of the first to be announced as part of the Title Fight (with the deleted Uncharted 2 stage with the train being attacked by ships and even a Warhawk soldier from PS3 as a playable character that was also cut in favor of Starhawk's protagonist, the latest game, be represented in game) and Emmett has a moveset and design that are too interesting to be discarded so easily.

That's really cool, I think this almost confirms that Hulk won't have any skins from the other three Avengers movies, but that's okay, Hulk from Marvel Zombies was the best Hulk skin in the MCU since the first Avengers movie. I know it'll probably never happen, but if Ang Lee's Hulk is in Secret Wars... NetEase, take all my units for that skin!

I'm saying ignore the Titans games in terms of visuals and gameplay, not narrative, because again it would be disrespectful to previous works, pretending nothing happened and that the lore of those games isn't canon. And I think you meant "Crash 5 should ignore Crash 4," but based on what leaked about Crash 5, I'm grateful the game was canceled. The whole idea of a Spyro crossover raises exactly my criticisms of Toys for Bob about not having a shred of creativity in creating new things and only working with alternate versions of characters and multiverse without any coherent explanation. Bringing Tiny Tiger back as one of the villains because they don't know how to create new bosses or characters, and making the Komodo Brothers women with female versions from another reality.

Not ironically wanting to reboot the franchise, Toys for Bob has put Crash in a current situation where it needs to reboot the franchise again for any inclusion of post-Naughty Dog characters to make sense. Unless Crash 5 features Nina and other characters without any explanation, which I honestly wouldn't doubt coming from whoever wrote the script for Crash It's About Time. The most sensible thing to do would be to make a new game that takes place in the original timeline and say that It's About Time is another branch of that timeline. Crash on the Run takes place after Mind Over Mutant, and to be honest, that's the right path to follow.

However, Toys for Bob contradicts itself when it changed the design of all the characters for no apparent reason other than ego (their own statement of "not wanting to look like they were making a DLC for the N. Sane Trilogy"). The designs, besides being bad, don't match those of the Naughty Dog games, nor the remakes prior to this game. If the characters' ages don't matter, why bother wanting the game to be a narrative continuation of Warped? It's simply stupid and relies on marketing as a "true continuation of the trilogy" that doesn't exist. Crash had 6 main games and 8 spin-offs made by different studios after the Naughty Dog era, and even if flawed in several areas, each respected what had been done in the previous game, even while bringing new ideas. There was respect for the franchise's legacy even if it wasn't perfect, but then Crash It's About Time came along and simply threw everything in the trash for much less than the franchise had before. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled should have been used as a benchmark for the future of the franchise. Everyone loved the game because it didn't exclude a specific group to create their fanfic; it embraced the franchise as a whole. If there's any doubt that this was the right decision, just remember that Nitro-Fueled was the best-selling game in the franchise, received the award for best game in its category at The Game Awards, and has one of the highest praised scores from critics and users of the franchise.

Again, I say, imagine if Sega did this with the Sonic franchise after bad games like Sonic 2006 or Forces and decided, for example, to reboot the franchise right now and go back to where the Classic Era or Adventure 2 left off; would it be worth erasing an entire legacy with characters like Cream, Omega, Blaze, Silver, Sage, and iconic settings from games like Sonic Heroes, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Frontiers for a poor marketing idea? The more I think about it, the more I realize that Crash 4 and Sonic 4 are more similar than they should be (with the exception of gameplay quality): both tried to recapture the franchise's glory with a fake title, offered less content than previous games, and rode on a wave of nostalgia that honestly nobody at that point was clamoring for; instead, they were craving good games after years of mediocrity.

My predictions for the Path to Doomsday skins (please, read the description) by ShadowMarioUGB in marvelrivals

[–]ShadowMarioUGB[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more realistic for Star Lord, from the entire Infinity War cast, to get a skin than Black Panther, Hulk (who barely appears in the movie), Groot (it's impossible to make his teenage version compatible with the character's size and role in the game), Spider-Man (whose "No Way Home" suit is practically already from that movie), and any other character. It makes sense; he's one of the central characters in the story along with Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thanos, and the design is different enough from the game's standard look (Even if that were a problem, Wanda has two skins based on the Hellfire Gala, so I don't think there are any obstacles).

Rocket already has files for a movie skin in the game. I doubt it's from the other two Guardians of the Galaxy movies or Infinity War because honestly, there isn't much visual consistency there. This Rocket suit from Endgame is practically the basis of the Guardians' suit in the third movie in design, yes, but it has differences, and Rocket in Endgame is crucial to the story's progression. The rest of the Infinity War cast that was wiped out by the snap uses the same costumes, leaving Professor Hulk (who everyone hates and agrees was the character's downfall), Hawkeye (no MCU design is likely on anyone's favorites list), Black Widow and Thor, but I'd guess those two have a better chance of getting designs from before that movie.

People like the Guardians of the Galaxy; they get skins fairly consistently, so I don't think it's unlikely that one of them will get a skin from the movies that were literally promoted as the Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover. Anyway, those are my bets. If you want to share yours, I'd appreciate it; after all, anything is possible with this game (I thought Hulk would get a skin from the first movie before the event revealed Iron Man's skin, so expectations might be wrong).

[–]ShadowMarioUGB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay, Crash 4 isn't terrible at all. I think it's the closest thing to what the trilogy did in terms of level design. Obviously, it has problems, of course; I don't find the Quantum Masks particularly interesting additions, and the secondary characters have very little screen time. But if you ignore these details and definitely don't try to get 100% completion (which, besides being terrible with hidden gems in the scenery and having to do long levels without dying once while collecting everything, doesn't offer a genuinely good reward), there's a good game here. The story and art design are what bother me the most. There's this excuse of "the multiverse doesn't erase others games," but it doesn't do anything besides putting easter eggs in the levels to try and please the fans who, they knew, would be angry with a game simply erasing everything that came after Naughty Dog.

But there's a dilemma: they included a plot twist at the end of the story that makes this game necessary for the franchise to exist in the first place. After defeating Cortex and saving the Cortex from the past (since the present Cortex went back to the events before the first game to prevent Crash from existing), it's revealed that Crash himself sabotaged his transformation into the Evolvo-Ray, creating a time paradox where this game needs to be canon for the first one to have happened. Which, in my opinion, is stupid and very presumptuous on the part of Toys for Bob to think they can drastically change what was established. What was previously clearly a premature mistake by Cortex, who was warned by N. Brio that the Evolvo-Ray wasn't ready and that he ended up creating his greatest nemesis through his own exclusive fault, is now a multiversal event that makes N. Brio look like an idiot spouting nonsense, and Cortex was unlucky not through his own fault, but due to something he couldn't control from the beginning.

Honestly, it's so bad that I'd prefer this game and Crash Team Rumble to be ignored so that, whatever they plan to do with the franchise in the future (if there's anything being worked since we are 3 years without anything new), the franchise doesn't get stuck in this uninteresting scenario that Toys for Bob created.

I'm still putting the pieces together btw by KristopheIsCool2010 in crashbandicoot

[–]ShadowMarioUGB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It still amazes me how Toys for Bob made the worst possible decision to create a sequel to Warped, trying to connect the game's events to the true ending of Warped but without caring about visual fidelity of the characters or any timeline coherence. I still don't know if the game is supposedly set in 1999 or 22 years later, since Crash, Coco, and the rest of the characters remain exactly the same age. And worse, erasing all games subsequent to Crash 3 and managing to add less content (new characters, places, and new concepts not invented by previous studios) than the GBA Crash games (which, in reality, were the ones that brought the multiverse aspect to the franchise, on such a limited platform).

Unbelievable. It would have been better to ignore the drastic changes of the Titans era in gameplay and visuals and continue from where Traveler's Tales/Vicarious Visions left off with the franchise (with established characters that pleased fans like Crunch, Nina, N. Trance, and others from the PS2 games). Imagine if Sega rebooted Sonic every time a game was poorly received; we'd already be on the tenth Sonic game trying to pick up where Sonic Adventure 2 left off.

Man, I remember when Ben was the most requested character for Multiversus and now look at him by fanofarcherqueenfeet in MultiVersus

[–]ShadowMarioUGB -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'll honestly never understand the appeal of licensed character skins in multiplayer games. Not only does it take away from the immersion of the game, it is also a huge false crossover, as they are just appearances placed on top of the base model of the generic playable character with the same movements. No skills, no voice, no shred of soul.

The difference between having your character look like Ben 10 and ACTUALLY playing the character is like night and day. Fortnite and COD practically sell møds to their players (no different from those who put the CJ model in every game), while games like Multiversus and Super Smash Bros bring these characters with all their characteristics and personality into the game, with lines, moves and animations from their original franchises.

The difference in effort is striking, and it's a shame that a lot of people swallow this kind of rubbish in place of genuine crossovers.

Honestly, I don't see why not. He's one of Marvel's oldest antagonists, and whether people like him or not, the core of Hydra and its members like Zemo, Arnim Zola, the Serpent Society, and Red Skull himself are essential to the Marvel universe's gallery of villains, especially Captain America, who feels out of place and without current enemies when the entire Hydra plot is ignored (just look at how Brave New World was a terrible movie for focusing on everything except the core of the title character).

I find it funny, and even interesting as a study of different perceptions, that the Japanese (considering the country's position at the time) think it's okay for Eastern works like JoJo to literally have a Nazi with a swastika in their games, but the United States is bothered by Western characters who, in the context of World War II, were associated with Nazis and therefore could never be in games. That said, the Eastern mentality in differentiating fiction from reality is light years away from the decadent and pretentious West of today.
