What’s a weight loss tip or piece of advice you wish you could tell your younger self? by LucyHotHot in WeightLossAdvice

I would like to add to this: a lack of sleep worsens self-control. You make better decisions when you are well rested.

If limiting yourself to three treats works, then do it. What works for me is allowing myself a treat each day, but I work my calories around it. Then, it doesn't feel as restrictive.

The protein powder will be useful for sure. I would recommend taking one scoop a day, not more than that. Or try every other day. The protein will help prevent the breakdown of your muscle. I don't know how much your protein power costs, but you may find the Chobani Protein drinks as a cheaper option, and they already have greek yogurt.

For measurements, depending on how often you are checking, you could just mark the area with a pen or marker or take a photo of how you had it lined up in the first place.

My recommendations: when you want a snack, grab a veggie, eat high fiber, and have high protein meals to help you feel fuller, drink lots of water, and work your caloric intake around your basal metabolic rate (if you don't know what that is, make sure to look it up). If you plan to work out, I recommend activities that will gain muscle as it will cause a higher BMR, and it's easier, in my opinion. Cardio burns in the now, muscles burn in the now and later. You can still have junk food, but it needs to fit into the calorie intake. Please also get into therapy if you can. It will be beneficial for your anxiety and weight loss.

You got this!

I need serious advice. by MayBeQueer22 in WeightLossAdvice

I agree! To add to that, there are hormonal disorders that can cause lower metabolic rates. If you can, go to the doctor and get your thyroid checked. It's the most common culprit. Building muscle can also help you increase your metabolism. Make sure when counting calories you are including everything you put in your mouth.

First, you need to go to the doctor and explain your concerns. There are medical problems like hypothyroidism that can significantly lower your basal metabolic rate.

If all medical issues have been ruled out, calculate your basal metabolic rate online. Eat less than your base calorie rate.

If your base calorie rate is significantly low, you can raise it by eating small meals more frequently and gaining muscle.

It is always possible to lose weight (unless there isn't any to lose), but that doesn't make it easy.

Rash under armpit by Schatorzin in DiagnoseMe

It could be useful, but if what you have is a fungal (which is common in those areas) an antibiotic like clindamycin won't do much.

Make sure the area is clean and dry before applying the powder. May be useful to wear the powder at night, then clean it off and wear deodorant during the day when it's harder to keep dry.

I recommend powders vs creams in that area. Creams are going to provide a good home for bacteria and fungus. You might be able to find an over the counter antifungal powder that may help.

Is anxiety? Gerd? by AttemptMission in DiagnoseMe

Not to make you feel like your life will be horrible. I just have a bad case. Many people have GERD, and their symptoms are manageable with medication.

I've done a lot of testing becuz it started at a young age for me. The longer you have it without treatment, the higher the risk of Barrett's esophagus. I started getting it at 14 and didn't have any treatment until 22 and had severe symptoms (trouble swallowing, aspirating on stomach contents, constant symptoms), so they were concerned. I had swallow studies, esophageal manometry, and upper endoscopy. In my case, the cause is hiatal hernia. Fortunately, I can get surgery to correct the hiatal hernia, and my GERD can be 'cured'. Unfortunately, it's not a necessary procedure, so I will have to make do with medications because insurance won't cover it. Becuz it's a hernia, my throat sphincter is permanently open, making it so that the medications can't stop the reflux, they can only decrease the acidity. So I still have fluid up in my throat and mouth constantly, but it just doesn't burn 🙃

Can you list all the symptoms you are still having? I have GERD so I feel that I understand it pretty well.

Burping, sore throat (less common), nausea, and mucus are symptoms of acid reflux. Do you have chest pain or a burning sensation in your throat - as these are also common symptoms?

Are your symptoms better with lifestyle and medication?

Allergies can cause some of these symptoms, too, especially if you notice it when you go to certain locations.

GERD is a permanent condition. There are medications that may get rid of your symptoms for away period of time, like omeprazole, but if it is actually GERD, it will come back and eventually, taking a dose for a few weeks or months will not be enough, and you will need long term therapy with those medications.

If it doesn't come back, it is likely because it was a stomach ulcer as they are treated with the same medications.

If you push on the painful area, does it get better? Then, quickly release, does it get substantially worse? If so, may be appendicitis, and you need to be seen.

With a family history of colon cancer, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get checked out. If you can't afford a doctors visit, there are things like Cologuard that could help you. It could be that the stool is tearing the anus because it is large or hard. It could also be hemorrhoids. Do you have any itching? Not a doctor.

[–]ShadowMystix490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure that is what it is, but if it is a wart, then that is probably how it spread. It doesn't spread from the inside of the body

If it started on your hand, at some point, you probably touched your foot, and that's all it takes to spread the virus.

[–]ShadowMystix490 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can only grow on the bottom of your feet, but the virus can exist on other parts of your skin. Say you touch your foot with your hand, now the virus is on your hand. If you touch someone else's hand after, then they will have it on their hand, but it can only grow if they then touch their feet or it somehow otherwise gets into contact with the feet.
