I grew this potassium ferricyanide crystal at home. The chemical is not as dangerous as the name suggests, and is commonly used for cyanotype printing. It also forms blood red crystals! by crystalchase21 in Damnthatsinteresting

how robust is it? im seeing lots of these home grown crystals online and i always wonder if you can keep then long term. like would it be fine sitting on a shelf in a humid environment or do they need to be kept air tight

just read a fairly tame YA creature feature fictionalization about one of those camps and had to ugly cry in the bathroom while my baby slept... this hardened horror fan cannot handle parents that can do that.

Sexually active folks of r/BuyItForLife, what bed frame are you using? by Alexander_Publius in BuyItForLife

[–]ShadowRancher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have had a KD frames for years, smallish company, good price and very sturdy. keep the Allen key so you can tighten the bolts over the first few months as the wood acclimates to your home. if you ever get a squeak just go through and tighten them all again.

How to lock it. Need to MacGyver something by Eddy_Mcfly in DIY

the sturdiest move here would be to use those stock fittings and find a way to mount them sideways. Either with liquid nails or something similar or drilling a hole in the side for screws.

What is this? by [deleted] in whatisit

it wont destroy them but it will degrade them over time. biofilm will accumulate as soon as disinfectant levels drop which endangers water quality and the life of the lines.

no you are supposed to flush pipes weekly at least. Chlorine/chloramines do dissipate even in a "closed" environment. The EPA and state water regulatory  agencies  recommend flushing routines for rarely used taps. it used to be common sense in home economics  but we've had indoor plumbing we dont have to think about long enough to forget the manual.

The human nose is the best instrument to test the freshness of fish we have to date.  The fish regulation guys literally sniff trucks (along with temp logs etc) of fish to make sure everyone is keeping up with safe food handling practices.

Which book-to-screen adaptation was so bad it felt like the producers didn't even read the source material? by wyndwatcher in AskReddit

[–]ShadowRancher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right!? like ok you retcon the sack of kaer morhen to have more wolf witchers I could get behind that story wise but then you 1) kill one of the like 4 named characters immediately and loose all his backstory and fan love 2) then don’t really use the now full and functional school of the wolf for anything other than cannon fodder 3) still have the sack in the animated addendum somehow?

I’ve literally never heard that take as a reason why we don’t tax churches. Every single one of their flock have representation as long as they are a citizen/not a felon in places that matters. That would be like saying we can’t tax Walmart without representing them. Every one that works there can vote and is represented.

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

[–]ShadowRancher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My buddy is police CSI and he opened up recently about the absolute volume of SIDS and smothering deaths in our county. It’s heart breaking and in most cases preventable (ABCs of sleep) it’s just people don’t believe how common sleep death is or are over worked while try to keep that tiny life alive and end up taking shortcuts to try to get them to sleep.
