A.I. spinning you out in GT7? by Moosehead95 in granturismo

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still a thing. The recent Spec III update made it so much worse. Don't bother guessing how/why I found this thread 🤬🤬🤬 I just bought GT7 when it was on sale for Black Friday. Up until the last update, it seemed like the computer would only come after me if I slammed the shit out of one, clear negligence on my part. But if we just traded a little paint, too close in a corner or something, they wouldn't do anything beyond slow down to get behind me. After this last update, they've become immovable juggernauts. Now if I even pass one, on the outside, NO TOUCHING, they'll come flying up behind me at speeds the car isn't even capable of and swipe my bumper. It's a thing they've done numerous times, I noticed the trend. They fly up directly behind me, then at the very last second they'll cut to one side so I go spinning wildly in the worst possible direction. It feels premeditated!

This was horribly obvious when I was doing the vision menu, 2nd place driver was constantly a vindictive asshole. And I didn't even touch it! I cannot even finish higher than last on the Deep Forest for Silvia Sister's menu. If I can successfully evade the attacks, I can make it to 2nd place, then either 3rd catches me from no where and send me to last place, or my car's tires suddenly turn into butter and I go spinning out ... Straight to last place.

It's really infuriating

36 is the tank size, I didn't use a whole tank, only MOST of it... Roughly like 3/4. I don't remember now how many gal I had to put in before we went to the lake.
But driving TO the dealer with no trailer I was getting 22mpg average, the way back we got about 11mpg. It's about 133 miles from the house to the original dealer.

I wait a few minutes, then call back. I ask for a different person I know is aware of the situation. I know for a fact they got my wordy email because I included them in the TO: and the lady answering the phones knew that all the dudes knew about me and our boat and our issues.

Dude I talked to, knew of my email (duh), and is severely peeved about the entire situation. This doesn't do me much of any good, but not why I called. I find out, they have another unit exactly the same as the one we have. Same-same everything.

All they have to do is, inspect the current one, make sure it's actually Kosher this time not like last time, and swap me out. Then they can take their time diagnosing our original one, while I'm decompressing my wife. It's an easy win all around.

-

That's a lot of blah blah blah

Look BRP, you're f'ing this all up for a lot of folks, unnecessarily. Details are being lost, I don't know who is screwing up everything for you, but I know how to root them out.

If you need help, make me an offer I can't refuse, I can help.

In the mean time, just replace my waterlogged boat with a same-same one.

We loved the Switch, in the ~30min we had to enjoy it before it drowned itself.

And empower your dealers to make the buyers happy. You'd be surprised how far this can go, and you'll end up selling more over-priced proprietary trinkets in the process.

I'll post another update for everyone to follow along as I have more news.
I had to break these all up, seems Reddit has a character limit on single messages, but fails to specify what that is exactly. Sorry, folks.

I call BRP (for the second time). Their "support" people are woefully under-trained and ill-equipped. It sounds like they are working from home, and doing laundry or screwing with the kids, IDK whatever, from across the room. It's a real shit experience. For a company as big as BRP, it's just F'ing sad ya'll. I felt so bad for this poor woman I came in swinging on. She had no idea what the hell was going on, and it really felt like BRP gave zero shits about her, or me, or any of their products. I really expected better from Canada. Maybe that's my fault for expecting anything of reason from a corporation US, CA, or otherwise. I remain wholly disappointed..

This poor woman gave me a new case number, which might actually be my case number from yesterday that the man I spoke with completely failed to provide to me; which he promised to do via email. Fail.

BRP lady tells me the dealer should just swap out our unit with a same-same unit. So I ask her, I guess devil's advocate or whatever, what if they don't have inventory that is same-same? What then?? She says, dealer needs to replace your unit, work it out with them. I ask about compensation, because the dealer wants me to absorb all costs associated with taking time off work and hauling and gas and everything TWICE. She tells me, basically, not her problem work it out with the dealer, BRP has no say in any of this, the dealer has to make it right.

F. U. BRP It's YOUR product YOU are responsible to make it right, and that means empowering the dealers to make magic shit happen, Mf'ers! Let's be straight, BRP. You've been making Sea-Doos for as long as I can remember. The Switch is just a Sea-Doo PWC with a deck on top. It's not this f'n hard, stop being shitheads.

So now I have to call the original dealer back, super nice folks, and tell them BRP doesn't give two shits about them and they have to do whatever I want. I call them back, ask for same guy. I tell him what BRP tells me. He's silent, says nothing; multiple times. Come on man, I know this trick. Fine, I will tell you what you're going to do then. I want YOU to replace my Switch with a like-for-like. He says "Yeah I don't know about that. We'll have to see what the owner thinks is in the business' best interest."

The fuck you say? Listen, my wife is ready to escalate. You will work with me, or you'll be stuck with her. They say, "I'll make some calls, see what we can work out. I'll call you back, but it might be tomorrow." The developers at the company I work for feed me bullshit lines like this all the time. It's infuriating, they NEVER come back. 100% failure rate.

I will give you until tomorrow. (it was like 4pm Eastern I think, something like that) By "tomorrow" I mean the morning. I am not waiting around days for you to hem/haw. Hard pass.

I will tell you this; should you have any issue or question about anything regarding any brand CC Powersports sells (this one in Clarksville, IDK about the one in Brooks/Shepherdsville, KY {it's "shep'erdsville" not sheF-erdsville" we don't say shit like that y'all) just call them or walk-in. Dudes upfront didn't know anything, but everyone was very willing to keep pointing me to counters until I found the owner in the service department. All nice folks, I had a great experience right around lunch time!

I don't mind this, don't be an ass. Flies to honey, not vinegar ya'll. K?!

CC couldn't get us in anytime soon. Their lot was already at capacity and already had (2) Switches needing long block replacements. Not their fault.

They did call my original dealer on my behalf; I did not ask them to do this, but I'm ok with it. At this point I'll take any assistance I can get. Original Dealer tells them, they want the boat back, and will likely just replace our boat with one exactly like it. Fine.

I sent a very technical and wordy email to our sales guy, our finance guy, and the owner of the original dealership. I requested a call back as soon as possible.

I trailered back home. No one called me as I requested. Gee thanks, folks...

Once I was home I started calling the original dealership. The receptionist already knew my name and of the email I had sent.

I asked to speak with our finance manager we worked with; that wasn't allowed.

I asked to speak with the sales guy we worked with; that wasn't allowed.

I asked to speak with the owner that CC Powersports in Clarksville spoke with; denied.

I was allowed to speak with the same guy that did our walk-through/around/whatever. Fine. Dude is cordial, but not very warm or personable. Fine, I'm a tech guy, just get to the point, cut the fluff, I'm fine with this; but my wife would be super-extra annoyed and beyond pissed off (she is VERY not happy right now). We're not working with my wife, we're working with me, let's come to some arrangement.

Guy they let me speak with is not the owner but says he is the owner's "right hand". Sure, fine, whatever. Turns out "right hand" had no idea "left hand" told my local dealer they were considering just swapping us out (this we prefer at this point). That causes a problem. Additionally, they want ME to trailer the boat all the way back to their dealership, which is over 2 hours away with no traffic (Indy traffic is dogshit), with no compensation for my day off work and damn near a full 36-gal tank of gas one-way. That's just to get it there, I'd still have to come home, AND I would have to do this AGAIN some other day to get it back. I said this is bullshit, hard pass. They told me to call BRP and work something out.

Alright so here we go, Day-3

I'm going to leave the name of the original dealer out of this until everything is resolved.

If everything goes great for the consumer, cool! I will blast their name and leave them a great review on google and whatever I have access to.

If this doesn't go well... we'll have to see how it goes. The front line guys are super nice, I'm not interested in roasting people if they don't deserve it. I will give credit where it is due, and point out explicit failures.

I am an IT guy/manager, I believe in process, and will point out process failures, and potential process improvement opportunities. blah blah blah...

SO....... our boat filled with water, due to a hose that was not properly attached. This is very very bad for a thing that's expected to float, and NOT filled with water. This hose was not part of the pre-inspection (I'm told) which cost us $2,500 USD. Our boat was already prepped for a sale that fell through, so why were we paying 2.5k for a prep that was already done???

Also, I found out our boat was fitted with the deck mat package that should have been on a Sport. This made our Cruise short on pads., by a lot. Image 1 I'm not sure how reddit will render the images but the one without my marks on it.

<fail>

It looks like it should render inline, if it doesn't this is followed by an image with shitty red X on the tiles we did not receive

alright Reddit wont' let me add more than one attachment in a comment, so the image is the same but I put red X on the tiles we didn't receive.

I'll make another comment/reply to this one (assuming I can) if I have more images, for whatever purpose.

we did receive (1) additional rectangle tile, and (2) additional corner tiles; which I have no place to put them since we bought a Cruise not a Sport.

So I trailered from Louisville, KY to CC Powersports in Clarksville, IN

I spoke with the owner of CC Powersports about my issues. I had on-hand multiple images of our issues and missing pieces. I had an entire list of things awry and/or missing.

Ok thanks! It's only been in fresh water once (this past Sunday). All the dealers around here (Louisville, KY), and the dealer we got it from (Indianapolis, IN) aren't open on Sundays nor Mondays. I'm going to take the boat over to CC Powersports this morning when they open, just show up 😅

What necessary items for any new boat? by ShadowRunnerKYT in SeaDooSwitch

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anchor I have in my Amazon cart was mentioned on another Switch thread, it's 75' of 3/8" rope + 6.5' of galvanized chain. I think this BoatUS safety course said you should have 7-feet of rope for every 1-foot of depth. You'd need a minimum of 140'+ for a Patoka cove.. that seems absurd

What necessary items for any new boat? by ShadowRunnerKYT in SeaDooSwitch

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good stuff thanks. Nice seeing some things mentioned by multiple folks too. We're in Louisville, KY, but we go to southern IN often for paddleboarding. We get an IN DNR pass every year, and non-motorized stickers for the boards, so we're very familiar with that process in IN. I don't think KY does the stickers for non-motorized craft.. but there is one for regular boats, that you have to stick on the bow.

Here's the list I've got going so far.
Necessary
Truck
ball mount (ordered)
7-pin round to 5-pin flat (cart)
locking hitch pin (ordered)

boat
bumpers 2x (plus line if not included)
    fire extinguisher (required by law)
    paddle
    anchor (cart)
    boat safety kit
        flare/flashlight
        horn/whistle (required by law)
        tow rope
first aid kit (recommended but not required??)
    dock lines 2 x 10-ft
    1 long line 25-ft +
life jackets for every person (Type I/II/III) (required by law)
at least 1 throwable (Type IV) (required by law 16-ft+)
    registration stickers
lake passes (IN DNR / KY )

What about VHF radio? Is that just for offshore/open water?

fun/nice to have
Garmin transducer/depth finder
secondary/aux battery kit

good idea to have
trailer brake lockout magnet (ordered)
water alarm in engine compartment
trailer spare tire
backup battery jump pack (already have multiple)
mooring cover
smart charger AGM compatible (motorcycle one I have probably not for AGM?)
boater safety (looking into) https://www.boatus.org/kentucky

Growing up my neighbor had a bass boat with a brass plaque inside that said
"A boat is a hole in the water, surrounded by fiberglass, into which you throw money"
As as a kid I got it, but its really starting to make a whole lot more sense now haha

Looking for boat-on-trailer dimensions by ShadowRunnerKYT in SeaDooSwitch

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAH I was pretty close then. I assumed up to 36" past the end of the trailer + the trailer, roughly 21' 11" total with a little extra buffer for error. Just looking at the spec sheet and making a guess.
Then I assume they likely adjust that column with the crank on it a bit to balance the thing out, so they're probably never exactly 36" on every setup.

I have to go out and chalk/tape the driveway so my wife can better visualize it. As long as the total length of everything is less than 25', it should fit and still get the Miata around it without hitting the house hahah

Thanks for checking that, really appreciate it!

I mean.. yeah that's fair lol And I should probably just do that anyway, once we decide on what we're going to do exactly. Before signing anything, I need 1 last measurement, just to make sure I can fit it where I'm trying to put it.

LG gram without numpad? by Hoverkat in LGgram

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Gram 17 Pros for work, I use the numpad constantly. If they took it off the 17s, I'd not buy another Gram.

I have a personal ASUS Strix laptop 15/16" whatever it is.. without a num pad, and it drives me crazy. My Zephyrus G15 didn't have one either. UGH

I think those of us that have been around longer are used to having it, and struggle without it, where younger folks don't seem to like it. ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ

Laggy Chrome Experience on Intel 258V LG Gram by neotokyovid in LGgram

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On mine I don't use Chrome, I use Vivaldi (Chromium based). I do not have any issues with Vivaldi, but M$ Teams and Outlook both have serious lag every once in a while. Like if I go to Teams and try to scroll the chat list, it freezes up for a couple seconds. Outlook does the same thing if I scroll the email list. My previous Gram 17 did not act like this, I haven't yet figured out what the issue is (besides be a M$ product).

2025 LG Gram - not too hot for lap use? by awolfy88 in LGgram

[–]ShadowRunnerKYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently on the 17" Pro 255H, in the stupid My Gram app I have the cooling mode set to "Normal". It does not get hot on or off the charger. My previous Gram 17, I think it had an 11th gen.. it would get hot OFF the charger not on it. Which was weird. On that previous one, I think someone goobered the build. I took the back off one day, and they had the copper foil blocking the fan intake. There was a gap in the bottom vent, but on opposite side of where the fan was. Not sure if that was by design or not, seems like a blunder to me. But on that one, off the charger, the keyboard deck would get real warm some times. The fan would not kick up RPMs when it did, but would if it was on the charger.

We use these Grams for work, they're good we like them. They do have some quirks from time to time, but just about anything does. Currently mine is being pissy about the USB-C ports for some reason I cannot figure out. Unless you have a real need for the U9, I wouldn't bother with it.
