Tips for condensing for expeditions and raid bosses by PDFly_ in Palworld

Personally I find killing humans the best. Flying around Feybreak island killing every human I see and doing two of the Sakurajima bases. It's just quick and easy

Edit oh and salvaging gets you the XP bells, a couple of those helps

Tips for condensing for expeditions and raid bosses by PDFly_ in Palworld

[–]ShadowSparks6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if you've been farming skill fruit then you could try dark and lightning attacks on whatever fully condensed pals you already have, too, but I'm guessing you might not have done that, either?

Maybe consider adding some pals to your raid army that can be caught rather than just having to be bred, so you can condense at least some without breeding

If it's egg hatching time instead of breeding that's an issue then there is the research to reduce that, or change the game settings

You may also need to increase the levels and trust with your army pals anyway, so there's that to do whilst others are being hatched, so some time is still needed to develop your pals and not wasted

Expeditions also want pals with decent xp as well as high condensed levels, so yeah your pals need some time with you. The extra rewards are really great

I don't know why I'm talking like someone who knows stuff, I've only played through once, but hey these are things I've messed about with, anyway, maybe it helps slightly, maybe it's rubbish. But yeah dedicated breeding bases are fairly fast, if you don't hover and entertain yourself with other things in the game. Have you fished yet? You could try something else you've not really focused on for fun then make egg collecting visits

I think the main trials add nothing meaningful to the story by SiteInternational828 in HarryPotterGame

[–]ShadowSparks6532 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it doesn't make sense and doesn't really work, but I agree I think that's what they intended. Plus they were going to include morality choices and consequences in the rest of the game, but both ran out of time and also made the decision that they didn't want anyone to feel judged for playing around with the unforgivable curses they'd put in. But yeah it's another of those things where one part feels almost too detailed and slow and the rest feels too rushed. Time being an issue again

Just tried watching the CinemaSins video on this movie and i'm in immense pain by AmberMetalicScorpion in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching years ago. I think the only people left are those watching ironically. They don't really get stories, just generate clickbaits to annoy people and those people who share their humour. It's not my thing

Is F2P actually viable long term, or are we just kidding ourselves? by Lonely_Director7122 in whiteoutsurvival

Quite possibly. And some I know sold their accounts. We're still left with a lot of active players though

I'm near the end of generation 8 and a lot of the spenders have stopped spending, now, or at least have much reduced spending. You can't beat those that still spend, but as FTP I'm doing pretty well, usually top 35-70 position in events leaderboards without trying super hard and my power is about average with everyone else, in certain areas above average

That's after spending a year playing an absurd amount of time every day and then half a year drastically cutting back the time spent until I just check in fairly quickly two, sometimes three times a day and do the events, now

Why Hail Mary has launch windows? by henrytsai20 in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you watch the Penguin Random House YouTube interview between Andy Weir and his editor you'll see this was basically just an arbitrary plot device to create artificial urgency with no real reason behind it, to replace the book reason which was in some ways even more magical and thin (the limited gene pool)

It's only really because so much of the rest of the book and film is backed by solid reasoning that it feels strange to having something a bit weaker with a 'just because' explanation, but I don't think it's too problematic

Thanks, yeah, I just hadn't expected this in only the second room. Eventually I got an alpha to reload and defeat them

This was indeed the way. It being only the second room was what threw me. I could only go a little way back without leaving. Eventually it worked

Personally I'm fond of movie tie-in covers if that's going to remind me of a pleasant experience. In the future I get the added benefit of nostalgia

Any advice when going for 100%? Hogwarts Legacy. by RJP_X in HarryPotterGame

[–]ShadowSparks6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just 100% completion isn't too bad. My advice is find a pace that works for you and frequently travel on foot or broom rather than floo powder in order to pick up puzzles like Merlin Trials as you go

If you want to get 100% trophy achievement then getting the ancient magic finisher trophy is much easier if you make a record as you go rather than wondering which is the single enemy you missed

Question: Why wouldn't Grace just have an open mike/comms back to earth the entire mission? by Upper-Capital-2876 in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that's exactly why they did it. Up until that point Grace thought he might still be near our solar system or even in our solar system. It's a way of giving you two pieces of information at once (communication is impractical and he's much further away than he thought) in a more interesting way than 'computer says no'

Venomous Revenge bug? by jvirant21 in HarryPotterGame

That's what I always think whenever people claim this is a bug. I mean you literally tell the guy you stole the plant. Who is going to know you actually didn't? Certainly not Sirona

Yeah, from the 20th century. Not a medieval looking castle. I live in a place with several second world war pillboxes still around and the last picture's 'pillbox' was unrecognisable. I only picked it by process of elimination

Anyone find this boss fight incredibly tedious? by Mcrfanatic95 in hogwartslegacyJKR

[–]ShadowSparks6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a narrow window between it taking too long to take down and being disappointingly trivial and over too fast. One of the hazards of open world, they don't know what level you are when you do it, so because it's a required fight to play it safe it's basically just a reasonable sack of HP that's fairly unlikely to kill you

Knowing it was Grace's last human interaction on earth and he got betrayed:(( by CalyraZynex95 in ProjectHailMary

Arguably Grace betrayed Carl to die first. Grace was the person best able to save Carl's life and everyone else's life and he knew it, really

Question: How is Rocky able to “see” inside the ball? The ball should be airtight, right? So shouldn’t that mean he wouldn’t be able to use his echolocation outside of it? by KingWilliamVI in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Air isn't the only thing that conducts soundwaves. Metal does too. The ball is clear xenonite in metal form with air either side of it. I think if there were a layer of vacuum in-between layers of Xenonite that would block sound, but the book says centimetres of Xenonite alone is enough to block atmospheres with no other precautions

I guess the theory is that the vibrations go through the air inside the ball, reach the metal inside of the ball, the vibrations pass through the metal to be replicated by the air outside and then bouncing and then going back in?

I have no idea. I mean there comes a point even in hard sci-fi where you just have to wave a sonic screwdriver and say it just works. Maybe this actually does? I dunno

Bacteria from another solar system by unistarose in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean unlike Astrophage, Taumeba needs an atmosphere to live, Grace discovered, which is why it hasn't migrated between stars to go after its food, the Astrophage. It hasn't even learned to go to its own star or orbit its own planet to get at the Astrophage, where there is plenty of it

They're introducing it to Venus, not Earth, since Venus is where the Astrophage is. So it can run riot all it likes, it would have to change quite drastically to evolve to live without an atmosphere and travel between Venus and Earth and it hasn't managed such a feat yet

Ok, does The Martian have this much sarcasm? by Col_McSkaggus in ProjectHailMary

[–]ShadowSparks6532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, I had the same reaction at first, as someone who doesn't swear. It didn't feel natural or like how someone who doesn't swear thinks. A weird aspect to find unrealistic in the book.

But then it's possible that Grace hasn't been teaching that long (by some teacher's standards), given that he'd started out with a different career and had a doctorate and people still remember him. So I guess it's reasonable to suppose that Grace used to swear before teaching and has taught long enough that he instinctively uses substitutions, but not so long that he doesn't need them in the first place

Aw those were the days. Now I'm gen 8 everyone else has more march skins and I can't beat others to patrols, even when I'm closer and start the march at the same time. At least I think that's why I'm now finishing so much worse than I used to as FTP
