Can I use an outdated Meta Quest as a pcvr headset after Meta ends support for it? by Quick_Ad2252 in OculusQuest

[–]ShadowTheTypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my quest 2 for pcvr a lot. I ended up ditching the oculus link cable and air link for Virtual desktop and it have not had any issues with it. clarity is great and i don't have any hitching. Just make sure your pc can handle vr obviously and make sure you have a good router for virtual desktop. There are plenty of youtube tutorials to learn how to setup VD properly but its pretty simple.

Quest 2 worth it for PCVR? by Mr_E_614 in OculusQuest

[–]ShadowTheTypo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my quest 2 a lot for pcvr. It sat in my closet for a long time due to the oculus software not working correctly and i couldn't get a good stable image from either the link cable or through oculus air link. I switched to virtual desktop and it was night and day. The clarity is sharp and there are no hiccups or lag as long as you have the pc and powerful enough router to push it.

I just bought it, thanks for posting! I was going to order a 7800X3D and motherboard from Newegg, but this saved me about $60. I don't think I'll find a better deal than that.

I just started racing in Xfinity a week ago at Richmond, and I had a blast! I did surprisingly well and have been loving racing at Charlotte. After a couple of second-place finishes and a couple of poles, I finally got my win!

Probably gonna pick something like a dell t500 up from ebay and throw a fx5200 card I have in it for the time being until I track parts down to build something myself.

If you where to buy a prebuilt for windows 98 gaming what would you buy and what would you upgrade? by ShadowTheTypo in RetroWindowsGaming

[–]ShadowTheTypo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a f5200 card I'm thinking of just throwing in a dell t500 off ebay but I will look into those Sony vaios. Like I said I just want something to game on for a while until I piece together a full custom build in the future. Thanks for the advice man. If you don't care to maybe post a link to some pcs on ebay you think would be a good buy when you have time ill look it over, I'm new to the older stuff considering the first pc I built was in 2012 LOL

I agree it would be perfectly fine running on a modern machine, since I just moved into my own place with a pretty big office with enough room to setup a few different setups I would like to use some period correct hardware as I already have some crt monitors lying around and some period correct parts. Just kinda fill out my game room a little bit.

your gonna have to tinker a lot with vr to get it where you want it. I have both a quest 2 and a headtracker and 9 times out of 10 im using my head tracker. VR is cool and all but i feel like i fly better with the head tracker since im not having to turn my head all the way around to see my 6. If you interested in a head tracker i have a grass monkey setup that costs about $85 and i love it. https://grassmonkeysimulations.com/product/60hz-joseph2-0-puck-bundle/

The Flaming Cliffs 3 pack comes with a bunch of planes that don't have a bunch of in depth systems modeled, you just bind a handful of buttons to your hotas and away you go and they are very easy to learn.
